The Protec Demineralization Cartridge for humidifier (PDC51V1) helps filter the water in your humidifier and removes large particles and minerals so they are not misted into the air. It works as a white dust collector and ensures the minerals don’t escape the humidifier and settle on surfaces on your home. This humidifier demineralization cartridge is for use in these Vicks Ultrasonic humidifiers: V4600, V5100 and VUL575. Use a replacement cartridge as necessary; every 2-4 weeks, 15-30 fillings under normal use or when the humidifier has not been run for an extended period of time.

Total waste of money! Would give zero stars if I could. I bought 2 of these filters for brand new humidifiers that were fresh out of the box. Both filters had a fishy smell and clogged after 3 days. I had to pull them both just to get the humidifiers to run, as they weren’t allowing any water to flow thru. For reference, I’m using soft water from the city in each. Don’t make the same mistake I did. Just avoid this product.

These work a treat. No white residue at the end of the winter season. Although I'm not sure you need to replace them quite as often as the manufacturer suggests.

I was a little uncertain at first as I have a Vick's V5100 series and this was the only filter that came up in the Amazon search and it is considerably smaller in size to the original filter. However, it fits perfectly and works just like the original filter had done. I normally don't change these out that often in my previous place I lived, but I do now as the water here in town has heavy minerals and this helps to reduce disassembly and cleaning times to remove those residues. Highly recommend for other buyers.

Works great prevents white dust from minerals from depositing on furniture. Has to be relaced around 30 to 45 days. It is thick enough. It is a good value. This prodect does not warm the water, just filters the minerals out of the water.

It came quickly, was well packaged and preforms as well as the original. I purchased this filter for the ReliOn humidifier model #FHC-502/H-0695-0I that I have been using for years. This humidifier has worked very well over the years for my family, but we tried running it with essential oils, which I do not believe it is intended to use. Still, it worked fine for a couple of months until we left it sitting partially full for a few weeks. This totally clogged up the filter. One quick search on Amazon later I found the exact filter at a good price. The humidifier is now working great again and I expect many more years of use out of it. I am very pleased with this purchase. It restored our gem of a humidifier to perfect working condition. The last thing we wanted to do was contribute to the landfills by throwing out something that could potentially still have much use. Thank you for helping us save money, keep our children healthier, while putting much needed moisture back into our AZ desert home.

One of these cartridges came with my humidifier and I wasn't sure if it was actually doing anything so when it started to smell mildewy I just tossed it and kept using the humidifier without it. After about a month of use without the cartridge it was was amazing to see the mineral buildup on the ultrasonic plate and how much the cartridge was actually doing. Bought a new filter and after cleaning the humidifier back in business and no more buildup.

There isn't much to say about a product that does exactly what it is supposed to! :)It fits the humidifier perfectly, just like the original that came with it. The size, form and function appear to be exactly the same. I used to buy these from a local store, but they stopped carrying these cartridges, so finding it on Amazon was good, although the price was about the same as I used to pay for it - was hoping to find it for a lower price here.Anyway, it works fine, so if you need one of this DC-51 equivalent replacement cartridges, go for it.

If you have a humidifier, it would be unwise to pass up using a demineralization cartridge. It saves you the headache of nasty gunk and mold that builds up in your humidifier. I agree wholehearted with other reviewers about the benefits of using this cartridge.For the first one that I used, it lasted me about 25 or so days (or in short, I noticed little in the way of gunk buildup during that duration of time) before I felt the need to change the cartridge. My second one lasted about the same amount of time as well.I have to point out, it is very important that you soak the cartridge thoroughly before adding it to your humidifier. For me, after taking it out of the package, I soaked it in a bowl of cold water for about 15 - 20 minutes before taking it out for use and so far I've had no problems whatsoever.If you want to save yourself some headaches, I strongly recommend using this product in conjunction with your humidifier.
