I wish I never bought this product. The FIRST one we purchased worked fine for a week or two. We had it mounted outside our building so our customers could drop off their car keys. One day the code we had set no longer worked and the keypad still worked fine so we knew the batteries weren't dead. Regardless, we still had jobs to complete that day and there were customers' keys locked in the box so we had to break into it. We then ordered another box and when it came in and we went to set it up, we followed all of the same instructions as before and could not even get the box unlocked with the default code or the emergency override code it gives you so you can actually open it and set your own code after taking it out of the box. We processed that box for return and when the replacement came in from Amazon, the exact same thing happened. Got it out of the box and tried to set it up but could not get the box unlocked with the default code. After looking around online I noticed someone left a review on this same box on another site and they said after a week or so they could no longer unlock the box with the code they set or the emergency override code and the keypad still had power. I then realized we should have just returned the first box and gone with a different product from a different company instead of wasting all of this time and the $160. We contacted ProTex (not by phone because no one will answer and there is no voicemail) and they took a day to get back to us and gave us the default code and emergency override code that we ended up trying and neither of them worked. We then sent them 4-5 more emails over the course of two days and we are now on day four and no response. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY. I'm sure they make boxes that work but if you ever have an issue you will not receive help.

Used to work. Code stopped working. Called customer service and was provide generic code to get in, that worked... but not the code we setup. Then, went to reset code, unit smoked and completely stopped working. Went to store to get 9v batteries to use on exterior of box, absolutely nothing at all. Unit completely dead and customer service suggests calling out a locksmith and that they'll send a new electronic key pad. Completely useless as a locksmith fee would be more than simply buying another unit. The warranty for this piece of cr*p is pathetic and Protex knows it but won't assist. Garbage product, poor support, garbage warranty.

This drop box has an insane feature. You enter your security code to open the box. Instead of locking when you close the door, you must enter the code to lock the door. What they don't tell you is that whatever numbers you enter when you lock the door becomes your new security code. In real life, this means that if your code is 1234 and when you close the door your fat finger enters 1134, then you have unwittingly changed your security code to a "typographical" error and will be locked out of your own safe.Customer support is iffy. They do not answer their published phone numbers, to the point of picking up the receiver without answering and placing it down on a desk until you figure out that they aren't going to talk to you and hang up. Email support was responsive in a fairly timely manner and did eventually solve my problem.The safe is extremely well made, easy to install, easy to use. If it weren't for the senseless re-coding it would easily be a five star product.

You have to punch in a code to close the door that’s becomes the new code! Stupid! If you punch in the wrong code, that code now becomes the new master code. I you punch in the wrong code AND FORGET, YOU ARE NOT LOCKED OUT OF YOUR OWN SAFE. do not buy it!!
