Our daughter is a very tall, very thin 7 year old - she was able to wear a pair of size 4 shorts up until her 7th birthday, when I retired them. So, we ordered a size small in orange. The waist is a little too large, but not too large that it falls right off of her; just large enough that she has to pull it up a little while playing hard. The length is perfect. She loves this skort - it's soft and bright, which is pretty much her main concerns in clothing. The quality is good - none of the stitching is wonky and no threads are pulling out after several wears and washes. The zippered pocket is probably more useful for older girls - maybe to place a house key on a jog or earrings that might fall out while playing. She also has no need for the cell phone pocket on the shorts; but I could see her placing rocks that she find in there. Overall, it's a great skort.

I got this skirt for my 8 year old. It is true to size. I ordered the medium which is 8-10 I believe. It’s not too short and it has shorts underneath. It also has a zippered pocket in the back to hold a cell phone or maybe some money. The material is nice feeling and lightweight. The black will match with almost anything
