I have no drowned quail chicks using these bases. I have six of the bases. Five are great. Number 6 will not allow water to pass sufficiently. I swapped out several jars on that base. Some work far better than the no flow one. I assume it is a stack up of tolerances between the base and base threads and the jar and jar threads. Neither are controlled to tightly, but it is not necessary for intended application. Easy fix employed, made a spacer with water channels and shazam it works with all bottles. A ten minute fix. Actually used the slugs from 5 gallon bucket that I had put feeder ports in. Spacer fits between jar and base

These tops are perfect to use with the bottles from TSC that are marketed for chicks (chickens) that have the interchangeable parts. So happy I didn’t have to find something new. Good quality and durable parts, great price.
