served my purpose:I rethreaded tolerances on 1/2 " pvc/cpvc male threaded adapters (water pipes) to make work with brass female threaded shutoff valves. It brought tolerances of male threads so that I could achieve enough tightening of brass valves (before would only tighten about 1 1/2 threads before cross threading, rethreading allowed the 3 threads engagement of the brass fitting, I used teflon tape to seal)

Item I received was poorly packaged and dirty. It looked like it had been opened and used. No instructions included, but I have used other taps and dies before so I thought this wouldn't be a problem. I tried the 1/2" die on Schedule 80 grey PVC, but it just would not thread and tended to spin around on the end of the pipe. I tried turning the die around and threading from the other side and applying more pressure. It still would not work. Finally gave up and used a fitting instead. This will go in my junk drawer until I donate it to Goodwill.

The die works well enough hower it could be sharper. The threads came out a liittle rough and the cutter was relatively hard to turn.

The set I got had burrs on the tips of all the blades. Practically wouldn't cut threads at all. After "sharpening" (I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to sharpening this kind of thing) the 1/2 inch NPT worked OK. I guess it's a case of getting what you pay for.

I use a grinder to make the end of PVC pipe angled first. Then hold the rubber wrapped pipe with a vise to make the thread. It is difficult but it works. I tried with 3/4" pipes only. It was impossible to thread schedule 40, which is thinner, using this tool. I used schedule 80 for segments that needed threading. I was glad this simple tool was available and worked.
