I needed to replace my power adapter for my Escort radar detector that's 12 volts because my new Chevrolet Silverado didn't have a 12v power port and saw that this adapter would do 5v and 12v. I was a little skeptical that it would power my radar detector but it does very well and I haven't had any issues with it.

The usb connection broke apart and I had to tape it with electrical tape. Now I have to unplug and plug it back in for it to start my radar detector. I wouldn’t buy this one again.

I was skeptical that this device could convert 5v to 12v in the USB connector, but that's exactly what this does, and it does it very well. My Uniden R7 works perfectly with this power cord. Now, the 12v socket in my chevy bolt is no longer taken by the R7. Nice.Recommended!!
