The quality of this cable appears to be ok, installed easily, price was right. But it's a few inches too long. That causes the tach needle to jump quite a bit. I'm making a support bracket that should take care of some of the problem. Why can't a replacement part be exact? Would make life a little smoother.

This the correct cable for a '63 Ford 2000 tractor. There is a flattened tab on the engine side of the cable that's needed to be engaged by the engine. Other item #s that are billed as fitting are square and lack this protrusion and the cable doesn't engage the engine.
