With a very quick and easy mod, this dual-fan and heat-sink fit & run really nice on the Traxxas Rustler 4x4 VXL. By removing the motor from its mounting bracket, you find 4 mounting screw hole positions on the motor, so I remounted the motor 90 degrees counter-clockwise wise, allowing the heat-sink to seat flush on a full & open space on the VXL motor. With the heat-sink and fans in the vertical position, they fit perfectly beside the drive shaft and the optional chassis brace. Very custom looking set-up.The fans move plenty of air over the heat-sink and in front of the motor. The power cord was the perfect length to reach the channel-5 socket in the receiver box.Even if the fans didn’t work, the heat sink fits perfectly tight to the motor, drawing heat away from it.The fans are also reasonably quiet. When turning the car on, they run slowly for about 20-30 seconds, then smooth & quietly at full-speed after that. Maybe it’s a set-up on the fan, to warm up before running full speed, not sure. Regardless, I mention this as I thought they were defective on the first power-up, but shortly after, they ran fast and smoothly. To be sure, I tested a few more cold power-ups and the fans started up in the same way.So, as long as the fans keep running like they are now, this combo heat-sink and dual-fans are a great way to keep the motor cooler and look awesome, plus a perfect color match to the VXL blue aluminium color.NOTE: after running the Rustler after installation, I noticed two of the fan mounting screws were loose, as there wasn’t any sign of thread-lock used to set the screws; metal screws in a metal plate need thread-lock, so I added some to the 4 screws that threaded into the metal plate (i.e. not the other 4 screws secured tightly into the heat-sink fins, leave those 4 alone.) This likely happened to others, and could we why some people reporting the fan failing after a while. Likely they became too loose and rattled around causing fan damage.

This fan/heatsink works amazing. Keeps my motor about 20 degrees cooler when being stressed. It is also very affordable. Highly suggest this product for any 540/550 size motors that need some thermal management.

Fit my Reedy 3300kv motor on my Pro4 perfectly and looks great! Fans spin nice and strong not too loud not that sound matters when you're racing around.

I have purchased three. The first two fans I purchased run perfect on two of my RCs and third one will not run once it is installed on the motor. The first two RCs have 550 21T motors and the third has a 550 16T rebuildable motor; best I can tell the fan is being affected by the magnetic field on the 16T motor and will not run when it is attached to the motor.I have removed the fans from the heatsink and as soon the motor is held close to motor the fans would stop. I have double checked all the connections several times and it all comes down to the magnetic field being too strong for the fans on the 16T rebuildable motor. My final test was put the third set of fans on the old 550 21T motor I removed, and the fans worked perfectly.

I got the fans and heatsink in a plain white box. So it wasn't really a wowing experience. They worked. But one fan took forever to spin up. Neither fan moved freely and both felt like they were "gummy." They did work, and after a few runs, they did free up better. But just didn't free up enough. One fan, loosened up nicer than the other. The other just remained gummy, and very slow to start. It also got quite hot. The fans are also wired parallel. Meaning there is one power input and the fans are both split from that single input. The stock setup did well enough, but not on hot days. They just didn't move enough air when it was 90f outside.Be forewarned Traxxas users with red jst connectors on the esc. These are 5volt fans. Do not plug them into your red jst connector. The jst connector supplies battery voltage to the connected device at all times.Considering I wanted to use my jst connector... I could not use the supplied fans. I had a tall 12v fan of the same diameter from an old Tivo box I never used. So I used that. It fit perfectly. And the heatsink does great at keeping my motor cool now.In short, the heatsink is a great platform to play with. The fans are so-so. But I still recommend giving them a try.

So ive so far purchased TWO of these amazingly made, QUALITY, unit's & i have yet to be dissatisfied or disappointed these cooling fans & heat sink are amazing, i currently use them on 6s applications and they keep my motors cool whether im bashing, speedruns, or just tracks runs this fan is a great go to & at an amazing price i might add & with prime it comes in a couple days, literally.
