Was quoted $200 to fix the corroded factory glass gate hinges on my 2009 Ford Escape (mechanic also would not be responsible if the glass breaks when taking the old hinges off). Took a chance and am I glad I did. Put some WD40 overnight on the old hinges and in the morning, while being oh so careful with the glass, they installed beautifully and are very sturdy feeling. Great price too

Easy to install, came the next day, has been installed for 3 months, fingers crossed. Hand tighten don't over-tork. Replaces original Ford part that the vast number of Ford Escape owners have rot out and water leak issues with. Fords replacement part costs five and a half times more money. This should have been a Ford recall item.

If yours broke off like mine and the allen or star fastner is rounded off than just take a small drill bit and drill through from the inside of the vehicle out.....We didn't even need to drill all the way through and we were able to twist it out (don't hit it with a hammer!)

I had paid a dealer over $300 dollars to replace these on my 2008 Escape before they failed. I had one of the factory ones fail on my 2012 Escape while away on a trip. Ordered these so they were at my house when I returned. I replaced them by myself, you just have to detach the glass lift struts with a little care so they don't prang out and break the glass accidently.Once that was done it was just unscrew the old one, clean all the surfaces and re-install the new ones. I did re-use the original screws through the glass because the washers on them were larger than the supplied ones. The replacement gaskets were foam to keep the water out and seemed to be enough.Overall, the job took about an hour and saved a ton of money. If you are the least bit handy you should have no problems. Seeing as the originals lasted 8 years, I expect these to last as long as I keep the vehicle, but if I have to do it again, no biggie.
