I was looking for a more stable windscreen to go with my Genesis Jetboil camp stove. I purchased the REDCAMP 12 plate folding windscreen. It worked perfectly and folded up and put back In it’s own carrying case it fits on top of camp stove to be stored inside jetboil case.I also used it on a windy day to block the wind while starting campfire. Love dual purpose items.

I wanted one for my home kitchen & the "kitchen" ones are just 3 pieces of hinged metal & will only fit a certain size pan. I was tired of fry grease getting everywhere in a pan so large I can't find a lid to fit it. The panels swing freely on their hinges so they might "wiggle" a bit much for some people, but I wanted that flexibility to conform to different sized burners or whatever pan size I was using and it works well for me, AND it leaves a gap that I can reach in with spoon or spatula without knocking it over. Once done, I rinse it well & put it straight in to the dishwasher. There is a proper "up" side. Use it, or the hinge pin will try to come out. They are easy to put back in, but if I just keep an eye one which is "up", it's no problem. Worth every penny and wish I'd found it years sooner.

We have used this windscreen many times. It is very useful on windy days for a small cooking fire, or for use with a back packing stove or camp Dutch oven. It is light weight and serves its purpose well.

Wind and fire are always a problem. You usually wind up improvising something. This windscreen is portable, compact and flexible, but not very stable. It is thin, light weight, but flimsy. The only mechanism to secure it is 2 "pins", one at either end, you push into the ground. If you do not have ground to anchor to, you will have to improvise. In the attached picture, I am using magnetic clips to hold the windscreen. It did work in this application, reducing temperature swings during wind gusts measurably. Overall, it is functional and usable, but still requires some improvising.

If you cook over a compact camp stove, a windscreen is a must have. It is fairly lightweight but I’m a little concerned about durability. It is very thin and dents easily compared to a couple other windscreens I own. That said, it still does what a windscreen is supposed to do, but costs leas than others. I prefer functionality and don’t mind dents as long as it doesn’t fall apart. So far, so good.

I swear I ordered the 12 plate NOT the 10 plate. 7" difference. Seems ok. Corners bent not shipped in box. The little pins slide out very easily just from opening and closing. 10 plate just doesn't seem long enough for what I needed. Would I recommend I'm not sure. Will the manufacturer s ever get back with me on these reviews NO. But atleast I'm honest. It is lightweight. Bag concerns me only cause if the pins are sliding out that easy who's the say they won't poke threw the bag and get lost in the woods not knowing it fell out. If it don't work out I'll see about a titanium 12 plate.

The "short" version is the perfect height in my opinion for liquid fuel stoves, as it's enough to fully surround an 8" cast iron pan and the base of the stove, but without it falling over due to wind. We used this on two different MSR stoves for maybe a total of 2 hours cooking (15min each). What has happened since is, the metal for some panels is paper thin to the point that it's like tin foil. So obviously the panels have lost their strength, or, they maybe even literally melted and the material moved to different portions - and hence why the physical thickness of SOME panels is now so thin that you can bend it like TIN FOIL. It was NOT like this brand new. Again, this is only 15 min cooking chunks. While it still stands on it's own for now, i believe this is going to become more and more delicate as time goes on. That said, it is VASTLY SUPERIOR to the MSR aluminum foil shields, which are ruined after one use. I can put this in the dish washer, and its basically brand new again. It's also significantly more stable, as the legs on both sides have a stake to dig into the ground and hold it up. 8/10 ; for $10 this thing is pretty good.
