Buy it as a garden rain gauge if you have no place to hang one.You can also hang it on a wall, but you won't get proper rain fall totals. Nice and sturdy metal stand and large rain cup. This replaces my old plastic yard cup that split when I forgot to drain it before a freeze. REMEMBER to empty your rain gauge cup before the water freezes or you could end up splitting this one. It does come it a nice sponge on a handle to help clean up the last bits of water, pollen, and dirt that accumulates. I think it'll be getting years of use out of this one.

This was a great find! I like that this rain gauge is on a post so that I can see a more accurate level of the rain. Also, the yellow backing makes it really easy to read the numbers printed on the container. It is durable and a great value for the money.

I've had a variety of rain gauges over the years. This one is far from the most decorative, but after numerous glass ones breaking, I will gladly trade style for function and durability. As a positive, it has large numbers which are easy to read, especially what with the yellow background. It measures up to 7 inches of rain, which barring a monsoon, should be more than sufficient. If there is one drawback, it's the stand. It comes in three pieces that screw together. It is not the heaviest material, and if you don't have the sections screwed together tightly, it tends to slightly lean to one side. This could slightly skew it's accuracy. I may try to eliminate one section too see if it's more stable. It also has built in a slot to hang the gauge , so that may become an option if the stand doesn't work out.

This rain gauge will work. The stand that it comes with is bent just slightly when you screw it together. It seems like very cheap aluminum and I don’t want the threads to break off by staying to straighten it. It’s not a bad bend, but noticeable to me. The cylinder is thin plastic. We will se if it holds up to Oklahoma weather.

I wanted something to put in my mulch bed outside of my office window so that I can easily see how much rainfall we’ve had while sitting in my office. The yellow background seemed like a good idea so I decided to try it out. Upon setting it up I can confirm it should be easy enough to see from about 10ft away. The plastic seems durable but the true test will be after 1-2 summers in the NC sun!The metal stand screws together easily and is painted a dark brown color. The stand is a little thin but as long as my kids don’t bump into it while playing then I think it’ll be fine

While I like the size of the numbers on the scale, the product i received is bent as shown in the photo. The result is incorrect measurements, as clearly warned in the instructions. I also find the pole thin and the two pronged stakes too short to securely keep the pole into the ground in high winds.Overall, I am disappointed in the product and give it 2* (I Don't Like It).

We are tired of having to replace our rain gauge due to freezing and cracking after a surprise temperature drop. The clear plastic (ABS) tube has large numbers and a yellow strip in the back of the cylinder which makes it easier to see the actual water level.I used all three extension rods to set ours at the highest option. This is easy to put together and install in the ground. If I choose to make is shorter, I will unscrew the top extension rod and reattach the top to the second extension rod, or the bottom one, depending upon my desired height.Right now, it's not freezing outside, I give this 5 stars for functionality. When winter and freezing temps come, I will update with regard to how it handles freezing temps. Although, I would suggest removing it rather than leaving it to freeze outdoors.I would recommend this product.

I was pleasantly surprised how nice this rain gauge was when it arrived. It was very easy to assemble for the metal stake. The rain gauge is a heavy plastic with a nice yellow strip on the back that you can see the numbers clearly. They are in large print which is nice. It seems sturdy when put together, and I like that you have the option to hang if you prefer. It was much larger than anticipated and very pleased with the item. The plastic is supposed to be okay for cold weather, but I won't take the chance since I really like this gauge. I recommend this item to anyone looking for a quality rain gauge.
