I purchased this rack for my Hobie passport mirage 12'. I installed it on my Malone kayak trailer that holds 3 kayaks. My kayak sits firmly on the racks, very secure. The main tie down straps are exceptional and the bow and stern tie down are long enough for the job.I have gone on two day trips already with the new set up and the kayak does not move around at all even on rough roads.I like the added security of the special screw wrench, it will make it very hard to steal these racks. Just don't loose the wrench...lol...Very happy.

Fits perfectly on my 2019 CX-9 roof racks. Holds 2 full kayaks(just barely) but is an exceptional product. I highly recommend as we use it regularly and it is the ‘real deal’.

Quality fabrication. The provided tool should be longer in order to be able to screw complete turns instead of hitting the support and have to disengage and re-engage every 1/4 turns.

So happy I got this! Super easy to install. I got these specifically for my oc1 to carry on my 2018 Subaru Crosstrek. I installed them on the Subaru’s car racks and it fits perfect. The side loading makes it so easy to load my oc1 and the secure fit on the racks gave me the security I was looking for transporting my oc1 on my car. Highly recommended and all my friends love how easy the side loader works! Thank you!

This rack is perfect. It was very easy to install requiring only a little bit of extra time to adjust them to accommodate my kayak. The rack and side-loading arrangement is a simple design, but it really does work. I a have 16' sea kayak that I am able to put on to my vehicle from the side with little effort. I also like how the kayak sits in the cradles in a horizontal position - good aerodynamics, and it is securely fixed to the roof rack. The tie down straps are also awesome. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with a longer kayak or anyone that puts their kayaks on a roof rack from the side of their vehicle.

The rack (or cradle) portion of this product is just what you want — well designed, well made, and something you trust your expensive boat with. Just as important, the four included straps are simply the best quality you could ask for. They are plenty long, have an excellent locking mechanism, and will not scratch your (even more) expensive car.Even though I gave this product a five-star rating, there is one downside and that is installation. Maybe these tips will help you:• Screws can be difficult to get started. Save a lot of time and frustration by doing a dry run with just the screw and bottom bracket (thread the screws first), then unthread and install per manual.• Use a towel under the assembly area because you will be dropping the allen wrench a lot.• Before the final fitting / tightening, put on all cradles snug enough to barely slide on the crossbar. Then tighten the outside cradles (the ones closest to you) on each crossbar, positioned as near to the outside end as possible. Then position the inner cradle on the first crossbar according to the width of your boat. Measure the distance, then repeat on the other crossbar. Two things to keep in mind: your car antenna and whether you want to leave room for a second set of racks.• When installing the cradles, make sure sure screws are tightened evenly (alternate sides) until the assembly is secure. Eyeball everything to make sure the crossbar runs through the center of the cradle bracket.

Great saddles for kayaks. These are my first saddle set. I've only used stackers and J racks before. I'm not 100% on saddles, although I really like how the kayak sits ont he saddle, seems to be more aerodynamic for the freeway. But loading and unloading is harder then what I was used to. My SUV is a bit high tho so that might be why. Product itself is made of high quality materials and seem like it'll last for a long time.Pros:- Durable- back saddles have lined with felt for sliding the kayak from the back- saddles pivot for loading from the sideCons:- A bit on the expensive side, although kayak racks are always ont he pricey side. That is why I didn't remove a star for that.

Revised review-updated: Bad purchase choice on my part:DON'T BUY THIS IF YOU HAVE ROUND ROOF RACK CROSS BARS! - The carriers will just flop over, even if your kayak is tied down, and then the screws will dig into your kayak. The parts are plastic .. Just how much can I tighten them to the bars/rails before they break?Update (2015): - I've tightened the carriers down as much as I dare (the supplied special hex wrench is wearing).Other issue: The rubber pads are too slack to actually make contact with your kayak (regardless as to how they are positioned) and the kayak only rests on the tips of the carriers.Update (2016): New vehicle with approx. 2-1/2-inch wide aerodynamic crossbars - the carriers fit very well. The tamper resistant Allen/hex "key" - tool is a PIA and it's wearing (the edges are "rounding" ... somewhere around $12 to replace the tool ~$6 PLUS $6 to ship. I'll have to search Amazon for a substitute. This kayak carrier might suffice if used on other than round cross bars and with a kayak with a different hull design other than the Eddyline Sandpiper.Note: In one pic, the carrier was originally on the bottom of the hull, but when the other carrier flipped, the kayak shifted. He's my original review:First Impressions: Expensive! I liked the idea of being able to "roll" my kayak into the pivoting carriers, but I'll have to get back to that after I've tried it a few times in the field. The plastic seems to be of dense high quality material, but I'm wary of over-tightening the bolts and breaking something when tightening it on to my rails. Also, the loops for the bolts seem thin. The heads of the bolts are a bit shallow, and when tightening, the included hex key tends to slip out too easily, especially considering that it takes many attempts to find an acceptable "sweet spot" to balance your kayak onto the 4 carriers. That said, I have the Rhino 570 carriers mounted on round Yakima 1-1/8" rails and they tend to flop over when my kayak is moved or removed. I suppose this is more the fault of Yakima and my poor choice of their product. As for the described: "Large 2.95" x 7.87" contact surface area per cradle" - that's deceptive, as little if any of the contact area actually contacts my Eddyline Sandpiper 12 kayak. No matter how I set them, the kayak seems to rest on the tips of the cradles and not the "pads". I do like the included heavy duty straps and that the buckles are well padded with rubber. Just remember (unless you are carrying your kayak deck down), you'll probably need a cockpit cover to prevent bird droppings and other debris collecting on your seat and in your kayak. Be aware, except for the need to use a hex wrench, there is no apparent way to secure these expensive kayak carries from theft, and taking them on and off would be otherwise time-consuming and inconvenient.

In the video, they made loading a kayak from the side look a lot smoother than it actually turned out to be. Sure, it's quick and easy, but it looks rather clumsy while it's all happening. I have a little 9 foot Dagger, and when I load it from the side onto my Mazda 3, I have to make several adjustments and awkwardly push and lift it into the right position because the rubber pads keep snagging on the grooves under my kayak.Still, once the kayak is up and attached, the saddles get the job done. My kayak is held snugly in place and hardly budges. I can confidently go 80+ on the freeway without any rattling or shaking going on up top. The straps included with these saddles work perfectly also. I toss the rubberized buckles over the kayak and onto the other side of my car without making a mark. They tighten easily and stay that way.I originally bought the rear-loading version of these, but I kept scraping my kayak against the shark fin antenna on my car. These worked much better for what I needed them for.Overall, these are great saddles that get the job done. Loading my kayak turned out being nowhere near as clean as they make it seem in the video, but sloppy-as-it-may-be, I can still get my kayak set and ready to go in under 5 minutes.
