I bought this RockShox brand adapter after dealing with the generic no-name adapter. Buy this one; it works perfectly. I returned the other because it didn't work.

The heading says it all... arrived on time and works well. I don't know if you can find one less expensive somewhere else. I never looked.

MY EXPERIENCE: So I needed this in order to pump up the inner cartridge on my RST Killah forks that came with my Surron X. The issue with the smaller diameter end is that the inside diameter is too small and made physical contact with the schrader valve release pin, so every time I went to release the adapter, it kept the valve open and allowed the air to escape from the cartridge.MAKE IT FUNCTION: All you need to do is get yourself a 1/16" drill bit and drill out the smaller diameter end of this adapter. This will allow the valve pinhead to freely sit inside the adapter and the only time it will open is when you pump air. Once you've stroked the pump completely, the other side of the valve will be pressurized and will close the valve until you pump again (which is how it is suppose to work).I'm not sure why it wasn't designed with a larger inside diameter on the smaller OD connection to avoid contact with schrader valves. Maybe RockShox has some weird proprietary shenanigans going on with their rear shocks? I dunno, never used them. All I know is a simple fix made this actually useful.

Product is well manufactured and machined. The knurled knob makes connecting and disconnecting easier than my old adapter, which I misplaced. I had hoped this would also fit an older Marzocchi fork that I have but it is not a direct fit. It will not insert deep enough for a proper connection but will allow you to partially thread and hold in place to air up the fork, but not ideal for fine tuning. This gadget does not claim to work on these forks so I do not fault it or deduct from the review.

Figured Rock Shox would require a proprietary adapter to pull up their rear shock. Why? WHY?!? Not only that, if the tiny o-ring on it tears, then you pretty much need to buy a new one. However, this works well for the job, is fairly cheap, and quick and easy to buy. So this adapter gets 5 starts while Rock Shox gets 1 star.

You have to own this adapter if you have a Rock Shox Monarch Plus rear shock. It is necessary for charging the IFP chamber to 250 psi per the instructions. If you develop a leak, or rebuild the shock, you need this adapter to get your high pressure pump attached to the shock. I disassembled my shock before knowing about the necessity of this adapter an ordered here on Amazon. After I got the IFP chamber back to 250 psi, the rear shock behaved properly again. Whew..

The valve adaptor fits into the small rockshox valve on my older MC3.3 (and I assume Monarchs as well). However, the quality of the o-ring is very poor. The o-ring was quite dried out and broke within the first few attempts to inflate the shock. When the o-ring went, the entire unit was useless. Luckily, I was able to track down another o-ring which are not a common size. Also, before purchasing, you may want to double check the state of your schrader valve to ensure that it will hold pressure when inflated (you could swap it out into the air can shrader position and check it with a normal pump).
