I received a box in a box on a box, yes triple boxed and the spike was exposed sticking out of the boxes on arrival. I seriously doubt it’s really galvanized. Looks more like it’s been spray painted with cold galvanizing. Who knows maybe it will hold up to the saltwater…

Take a look at the picture. This item was of the shoddiest craftsmanship imaginable. As you can see the supposed galvanized item had overspray that got on the bungee cord. Hot dip galvanization doesn’t create overspray…silver spray paint does.Thankfully, Amazon provided a prompt refund upon returning it.

This is definitely a heavy duty anchoring device that works great. It’s well made and the galvanized finish looks good. It was considerably larger and heavier made than I had expected. The design makes it easy to use. The sliding handle works as a hammer allowing it to be driven into the earth for extra stability. Comes with rigging to manage the rope tension and keep your vessel moored.

This is a really heavy-duty shore spike. This is the second spike / stake style anchor I’ve owed, and this one is definitely much beefier than my other one. The welds seem solid between the hammer handle and the spike, I have no doubt this will last a long time. The top half / handle has a nice foam grip. My only real complaint is the storage bag that came with it is kind of thin and I think the pointed end of the stake is going to bust through the bag in no time. I personally store my shore spike in my ski locker without a bag, but if you like to store it in the bag I would t count on it holding up too long. The slide hook that came with this is also really good quality. These are a lifesaver when you want to make quick adjustments and attachments without fooling with any knots. Overall, this is a great package and all your missing is some anchor line to be all set!
