This membrane is easy to cut to size and retains its shape. It is effective in "uncoupling" your tile from the subflooring. Plan your layout before installing to minimize cuts and the number of pieces used.

I felt this was a better deal than the shower kit. Worked excellent and easy to install.

Light weight, easy to cut great reputation and a trustworthy product. This is expensive but you get what you pay for and when installed correctly you never have to worry about tiles popping up, cracking or the grout coming out from a shifting foundation. Worth every penny.

I used KERDI-BAND to waterproof DITRA HEAT seams over 3/4" plywood 16" O.C. and floor-to-wall transitions in a bathroom (with KERDI FIX against the tub and around the closet flange, with a dab in the corners where the DITRA HEAT met the vertical surfaces). Been in place for a few months, and I am under the impression that it will STAY water-tight. Nice system.I was so impressed and had enough left over from the bathroom to tile the inside of the front entry (we live in snow country) and the guest/visitor closet adjacent to the entry and underlay the tile with regular DITRA seamed with KERDI-BAND. Again, fast and easy installation, and it prevent ceiling stains from snow melt if the grout ever cracks or separates.

This stuff is great for DIY flooring.Just make sure you don't get carried away with the thinset underneath - it can lump up pretty easily - then you have to cut open the lumps, scrape and re-do the thinset (yeah, that was me - only two little lumps though...and they were easy to fix). You also need to work at getting the air bubbles out of the 'waffles' in the Ditra when you are putting down the tile. And definitely back-butter your tile. Best way to get 100% coverage and great adhesion. This stuff is thin enough that you don't have significant rises/step-ups when transitioning from other kinds of flooring. As for longevity? I had a pro installation about 5 years ago and the installer used this stuff - he was new to using it at the time. Did a beautiful job with porcelain tile in my entryway, which gets a lot of pretty heavy use. Iit has held up wonderfully. No cracks, no lippage....(well, he was a pro...)

Having laid tile several times throughout my life, I was used to using cement board prior to laying tile on wood sub-floors. Even though I would not classify myself as a "tile expert", I am very skilled and have a couple times when the tile has popped free of the cement board and i've had to relay a tile or two. I recently saw this product on "Holmes on Holmes" and thought it might be more trouble than it was worth but saw the utility of the grid system and its use in making a better seal to the floor. I followed the directions that came on the roll and in an 8 x 5 laundry room (very small space to work) I rolled it out, trimmed it to fit, mixed my thinset and within 30 minutes was laying my tile out on my newly laid underlayment. after about 3 hours, i was completely finished. Now, a month later, the floor is wonderful, and I have no evidence of cracking or popping tiles. I enjoyed using this product and "feel" like I have better adhesion to the floor and subfloor than I would if I had used cement board. Good Stuff!
