I am an SLP that works with young students in the schools and I often need toys that I can have control over in order to elicit communication. This toy is perfect for that cause and effect play. It can take a bit to get it to wind up just right and it will spin, but not always play music and light up at the same time. Works correctly 70% of the time.

It’s obnoxious and loud and difficult to wind up successfully. The music plays best when the top is spinning at full speed and then slowly dies out in the most awful way. I regret giving this to my child.

When these tops work, they are pretty fun. They have had some issues lighting up, which is unfortunate. One of them does not seem to want to work really at all while the other one only works intermittently. I would not recommend getting these tops and would go with something else.

When it is spinning fast for about five seconds sound works well even the slightest slow down music distorts no matter how much you wind it. The spin is about the same although it was just five dollars at the same time I bought an old hand pump for six and that one spins for about two minutes solid Disappointed in the quality I feel that the wind up portion will not be durable. Will have to wait and see the lights are bright though for about five seconds the music is great disappoints quickly.

This light up spinning top is very colorful when it spins on the table. It is also very loud which actually my grandsons love, me not so much. It would be nice if the volume could be turned down or off. My grandsons are 4 and 7 yrs old. The 4yr old has difficulty from winding the top so that it can spin, so he gets a little frustrated. But I encourage him to keep trying practice makes perfect.

This top is made of hard plastic, yet feels pretty durable. You have a winding device as well as a built in battery to operate the lights while this unit is spinning. Using the supplied winding tool this top spins very fast and is fun to watch. I think this was a good purchase.

I ordered this for my son as he likes the sensory aspect of toys like this - specifically the lights and spinning. He's 6 and struggles with some fine motor tasks. He's not able to wind this up on his own, and that's frustrating for him. Anyway - the product/material feels durable and well-made overall. The lights all work and sound quality is good, although loud. Batteries can be removed/replaced. It is balanced and spins in place. It will even spin on my son's rug, although not as long as on a hard surface. Once it starts to slow down, the lights and sound become intermittent before completely stopping. It's definitely a novelty kind of top. I'd give it an extra half star if I could (3.5). I'm not sure if would be appropriate for 3 year olds as stated in the description only because I think they would struggle with winding it up.
