The entire underside and the interior of the upright posts are hollow, almost as if this were stamped instead of cast. While the edges aren't sharp, I absolutely believe they will abrade dock lines, and I have almost no confidence in the strength of the mounting tabs. The finish is nice, hence the two stars.

fit perfectly. makes old boat shine. would recommend. I think I saw these at Wal-Mart though.
