We're expecting our first child and it feels like there are a million and one little decisions that have to be made. As new parents, we want to make the best decisions we can. Picking a crib mattress is daunting and it took me months to settle on this one. Our budget was $200 and I tried to find the safest green mattress I could for that price. Our second runner up was the Divinci Willow mattress. We ultimately decided on this one because it is Greenguard certified for no off-gassing and it is lighter weight for easy sheet changes. We purchased the mattress on sale at around $132 and applied a registry completion of 10% and 5% amazon mom discount for a total of $112 paid. It is a great value! We are very happy with our purchase. When we opened the mattress there was zero odor. It is lightweight, even for someone who is 8 months pregnant. It fit perfectly in our standard sized crib (Divinci Jenny Lind). It is firm but not uncomfortable. We are planning to put an organic cotton mattress pad cover on it to give it a little more loft and to cover the sleeping area with organic cotton instead of the vinyl of the mattress. This is not the greenest mattress you can find. The cover is vinyl and the insides are not 100% natural. Still, for the price it is a great value and safer than cheaper alternatives. There are no flame retardants and no off-gassing. You can pay 10x more for a wool mattress, but that wasn't in our budget nor did we feel it was a real priority for our family. If you have a higher budget, the Naturepedic No Compromise mattress is greener than this one but it is 3x the cost. I would definitely recommend this mattress to others and expect we will be happy with it for years to come!

Keep your eye out for deals on this. Don't get it from regular department stores. I looked at Babies r us and really wanted this but didn't want to spend 160 or 180, whatever it was, on it. I got this for 84 dollars on Amazon, woohoo! Yeah, that's what it should be priced all the time. It's a great mattress, waterproof, firm yet still a little squishy, but I can see why people who spent a 120 or more might have some buyers remorse. First off, go into this purchase not expecting a lot of soybean. Expect it to be thinner than most by probably an inch. Don't be turned off by its light weight. Heavy doesn't always mean its better in this case. Despite all the enviro-friendly buyers out there making a fuss over the approximate amount of soybean, I found this mattress to be practical for sheet changes. Some reviewers were turned off by the firmness, but you really won't know what your baby is happy with until they sleep on it. Just like adults, we all like different levels of firmness. In the babies case, firmness can be a good thing cause it will make it easier for them to roll over. This mattress was an awesome buy at 84 dollars and if my munchkin decides it's too firm, the addition of a softer mattress cover can be added. No problem, cause it's worth the waterproof lining that encases this mattress. It fit perfect in my Delta 4 in 1 crib, nice and snug. Some people complained the edges were too pointy, but the fact that the edges are more like right angles actually makes the mattress fit in the crib better. No gaps.

After reading numerous reviews and doing research on crib mattresses we finally decided on this one. Nice and firm for baby and toddler. We wanted a mattress that did not have inner springs in it as they tend to form pressure points. We purchased the birch Gulliver crib from IKEA and this mattress fits perfect in it. I was nervous after some reviews stated that this mattress did not fit in IKEA cribs because it was too small. Not the case. Love the fact that it is waterproof although I did purchase a waterproof mattress pad for a little extra padding and comfort. Mattress arrived on time and in great condition. I thought that it would have a smell out of the package, but no smell at all! Baby arrives in a couple of weeks so have not tested it out yet.

After researching crib mattresses and reading tons of reviews, I ordered this one, the Sealy Soybean Foam Core Crib Mattress, from Amazon. It arrived quickly and was well packed. The mattress fits very snugly in the crib, so I have no worries about the baby slipping down between the crib and the mattress. It's pretty firm, though I do wish it was just a little more so (not really a complaint, I just like very firm beds). Since it is a solid foam mattress and there are no coils, it should maintain its rigidity over time. The edges seem to be well bound and the cover is made of some kind of quilted waterproof plastic. At first, I was a little disappointed because I thought that it was supposed to be fabric, but I think it's actually better that it is waterproof. Although I ordered a waterproof crib pad, it's nice knowing the mattress protects itself from "accidents" too. The mattress is also incredibly lightweight; it almost feels like it could be an air mattress. I now realize the benefit of having a lightweight crib mattress: because it fits so tightly in the crib, I found that it's easiest to pull the mattress right out of the crib to change the sheet. I imagine it would be a much harder job if the mattress was of normal weight. All in all, this crib mattress is of much higher quality than the similarly priced ones that I looked in the local stores and I am very happy with my purchase.
