I know the price is cheap, but really, spend your money elsewhere. I had this pole stowed in the gunwale rod holder and it rattled loose and fell on the floor while underway. The tip broke off of it the second it touched the floor. Happened to both of them, one on each boat I own. Cheapest piece of junk I have seen in a long time and certainly unsuitable to use as a boat hook. Wish they still made them with the metal ends.

It’s not very heavy duty like the description says. However it does work and gets the job done. Wouldn’t recommend for anything over a 16 foot boat

While grabbing a mooring ball in windy conditions, I learned that the rubber handle was not actually connected to the aluminum pole. The handle slipped right off the pole when I attempted to pull the chain up through the mooring ball. I watched the boat hook float away and had to figure out another way to grab the mooring ring. I still have the handle, but it did not help much. I am now in the market for two boat hooks, as I learned my lesson to always keep a spare one on board.

This unit seems to be fairly sturdy and worth the money but:1) the head unscrews very easily (need to drill hole and put in pin/screw for safety sake)2) The rotating extension locks works, but can easily lock up so tight that it is hard to unlockthen not lock sufficiently at other times.In both cases it means that use requires some vigilance. Still worth the money, though.

When you suck at docking a boat as much as I do, one of these babies helps you not look like such an idiot at the boat ramp!This is a quality piece and it is super light. I like that it extends far enough to catch the dock when you pull in way too far away. I do wish it collapsed a little bit more for slightly easier storage, but it's not too bad.The extension twist lock works well and provides enough tension to pull a boat in. A fair price for a nice product!

This hook is lightweight (easy for my wife to use when I do a bad job of docking) and seems very sturdy. When retracted it does not taky much space but can really reach out when extended. It is strong even when fully extended.

used it a few times and works better than expected. Telescopic feature locks better than others I've owned and is easily stored below deck when not underway. Prefer to bring it out and extend it somewhat so I can hang it where it's easily acceptable while underway. Very good value for the quality.

Although an essential item for a boat, the handle cracked on mine inside a month, and sometimes the rotate to lock and unlock feature doesn't operate smoothly. Am a bit let down. When its time for a new one, i will shop around more. I might still end up purchasing this same item as it wasn't terribly expensive and does meet a need.
