These are for the person who wants to have a lot of sizes on hand for needing to drill or redrill a hinge here and there a few times a year. This is a good value for that use. I use these maybe a few times a year, i don't need a Cadillac of self centering bits but I've messed up enough hinges to know you need them. Also great for the times you have to plug and re-drill a hinge from being messed up at the factory or a previous person. Most of mine run smooth, they can catch a bit but I've had that on most affordable sets, they smooth out with time, you could probably needle file them to clean ones that catch up.I've had cheap ones for ages just not a lot of sizes, so glad to have a complete set. Sizes are on the side, it's a bit light to read but you can read them if you turn them into the light.

This is a set of very cheaply made "Vix bit" knock offs. Personally I would not waste your money on these bits. There is very poor machining on most of the parts and I ended up needing to use vise grips to separate the main shaft from the 1/4" shaft that goes into the drill driver. This is before even using them so it was not jammed up with wood fibers it was just poor alignment with the threads. A few of them were very easy to unthread and that helps to clear the trapped wood debris. The drill bit does not line up with the guide head and out of the 20 or so test drills maybe five of the were off center. The guide head is flat at the end and not tapered or chamfered to seat in the countersink of the door hinge. When I used these to install drawer slides that became a problem. Also the bits do not have a flat side for the Grub screw to hit against to tighten so they stick out proud of the main shaft. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning.I was really hoping these would be decent and I could replace my Harbor Freight set that I have had for a long time, but these are no better and even a little bit worse than those. You do get a good assortment of sizes, and some are duplicates within this set. Also included is an extra set of drill bits to replace the ones pre-installed in the bits.Unfortunately, due to how poorly they are machined and the miss alignment of pieces I cannot recommend this set. If you don't have any "Vix bits" then this could be a good set to get you a large variety of sizes, but I would look elsewhere for better quality bits. Afterall if you are looking for self-centering bits and they are not centered it can throw off your hinges or drawer slides...

This is a review for the Self Centering Drill Bit Set, Be Compatible with 1/4 in VIX Bit Bosch Snappy Quick-Change Hex Drill,Part #45300 Center Finding Drill Bit,Hinge Drill (Self Centering Drill Bit Set 17 pcs)This is a useful set that comes in 8 sizes. It is designed for the accurate central drilling of pilot screw holes for hinge plates. I also use them to drill accurate central holes on castor wheel plates. In fact they are great for drilling central holes on a variety of pre-drilled metal hardware.These are designed to drill the first part of a pilot hole. You will need to use a standard drill to increase the depth of the pilot hole that you start with this tool.So far these drill have worked very well for me. I like the inclusion of a hex wrench so that these drills can be disassembled and cleaned out when needed.
