The clarity just wasn't there. I use MagicJack. I had better luck just using my phone without this amplifier. The more volume just led to more distortion. I played around with the tone, and it did not help. I got a plug in power supply with it, so it wasn't a bad battery problem. You can make a poor product and there are plenty of people like me who try it and just pitch it vs sending it back for a refund. All I'm saying is save your money. I have a hearing loss and was calling up my credit card company and listening to the lady give me my balance and available credit. Just could not understand what she was saying. Without the amplifier it was clear what my balance was. I also have a cell phone for emergencies and the clarity is much better with the cell phone itself too. The cell phone is better than the MagicJack. But the MagicJack is a nice answering service.Part of my initial problem was I did not let the amplifier warm up to room temperature but tested it immediately after getting it out of my mailbox. I received it in January when it was very cold out. I tested it again a few days later and it worked better but not that great. So, I boosted my rating from one to three.

Was bought for an old phone in my mother's assisted living. Unfortunately the phone line cable from wall did not fit this unit. Have no clue what type phone's this unit is made for but certainly didn't work for an old phone (which is kind of what one would think this unit would be designed for .. i.e. an old phone owned by a senior citizen).

It basically saved me my job. I answer phone at work and couldn't understand what was being said most of the time. Not only can I hear and understand 100 percent, there is no static and I can adjust the volume

I have intentionally held off rating this for several months as I wanted to see if it continues to work. I've used it probably 6 months on my office phone and am pleasantly surprised. Battery life is terrible, seems like it was like 3 weeks, go ahead and order the optional adapter. In my opinion, it shouldn't even be sold without the adapter.

For my 96 year old mother-in-law. Didn't really help much. The concept of the amp between the phone and receiver made it easier for her to understand its use. But it didn't clarify the sound very much. It's something....when you're at the end of your rope!

I work part time in a lab with really old, horrible phones. I wear hearing aids and I can't hear anything when using the phone. I was using a Clarity brand amplifier that I've had for years and it was at full volume and I was still having a really hard time with it. I honestly think it's just old and worn out. I decided to try a new brand this time and the Serene product made SUCH a HUGE difference! I'm not even at half volume and I have clear, consistent sound every time I use the phone now. It's bigger than the clarity, but it also sits really nice on the desk. Definitely recommend this, especially if you wear hearing aids.

I don't think you can really get a great phone amplifier unless you're willing to spend a lot of money. This unit is okay, nothing special. I guess I was hoping for more.

This unit came promptly and it is easy to install. My only complaint is there is a background humming noise when using the volume control and the more you increase the volume the louder the background humming becomes.

I ordered this amplifier for my Mom for Mother's Day. Very easy to set up and works great. She can adjust volume to the level she needs.

Before buying this device it was almost imposible to talk to my mother-in-law. I know why would I want to talk to a mother-in-law right., Really it was next to being impossible but now that we have ordered this amplifier and connected it to her phone it is so much easier to have a normal conversation. Yes, some things need repeating but not every single word as before. It was worth every cent we paid. The only reason for giving it 4 stars is, in order for it to be loud enough for her to hear the amplifier makes a static like noise that she can sometimes hear and it disrupts her ability to understand as clearly. This is not always the case as she sometimes seems to hear a bit better and then does not need to turn the volume knob over the half way point where the disturbance seems to start. Great product highly recommend for anyone having difficulty hearing over the phone.

Just received after looking at many similar items. I have a hearing loss of about 30-40% in both ears and have been so frustrated trying to use the phone. It was a quick install. I found that there was a squeal with my hearing aid in but using it without my hearing aid was very successful. I think the squeal is due to the type of phone earpiece. You can adjust the tone and volume easily. For the first time in a long time I was able to have a normal conversation over the phone without constantly asking someone to repeat themselves. There are pads you can buy to put on the phone earpiece that can help with the squeal but I won't need that since I was able to hear very well with the volume only at about 1/3 of the total volume available. I'm very happy this has worked for me... as I'm sure others are who were at the end of the phone calls!!
