I used these little iron buttons to cover the screws that were used to attach my stained cedar shutters to the house. I used two at the bottom and two at the top of each shutter. Paired with hammered strap hinges and shutter dogs, it creates a very finished look to the shutter, plus it hides the silver screw! Win Win! Hint: to get it as close to the screw head as possible, I first tapped a nail hole right next the screw head so I could get the clavos to cover the screw head. I used a rubber mallet to tap it into the hole I made with the nail. Covered the screw perfectly, but you have to get it placed right up next to the screw head or it will not cover adequately.

Honestly, I was expecting a brittle or easy to bend decorative "cap" type nail. What I got is a nail that looks good and could legitimately be used as a fastener and not just for decoration. I found the finish to be exactly what I needed and the quality of the metal to be above expectation. As with everything, pay attention to the sizes you want so as to avoid issues. My items matched the indicated measurements so I have no concerns there either.Definitely recommended.

These were a perfect addition to my custom built sliding barn door! I pre-drilled a guide hole and placed a piece of scrap wood over the nail head before hammering it in. I wanted the door to appear like it was a restored piece of history. These hand forged clavos nails were the finishing touch!

I like these because they are solid and robust feeling. The size is accurate enough. drill a small pilot hole first then pound in. If not, you may bend the stem like a cheap nail but these are not cheap feeling. A small pilot hole will not affect the hold but it will allow the nail to go in nicely. I may buy again but they are not cheap. FYI, Hobby lobby has a set that looks like this but they have a spike stem as opposed to this nail stem. With hobby lobby you have to drill a large hole and use a caulking to get them to stay.

This cast iron clavos is a really nice product. Luckily even though it didn't even measure 1" in diameter we were still able to use them for our gates. We needed clavos quickly and these came just in time for my contractor to finish the gates that morning. They were really good quality just were not the 1 1/4" we were expecting. I put them next to a ruler as well as to next to our 1" ones that we had but not enough for the job.
