They work but I had to put tape over 2 of the sata pins for power to be delivered properly to the drives and the drives to function

The cables are somewhat delicate at the SAS connector side so be careful not to bend them too much. The mini-SAS connector snaps in just fine. It should be noted that the 3rd pin power situation applies here and using an older LP4 to SATA power connector did trick. Depending on the SATA power connector it may or may not spin the disk up at all. Certain disks don’t have the power conservation issues so older disks are more compatible than newer ones. Other than that, this wiring harness works well.

I used this cable to connect to the LSI3008 controlled Mini-SAS HD port on my Supermicro X11SSL-CF motherboard, which allowed me to connect my MG07SCA14TE 14TB Toshiba SAS hard drives without having to lower their connection speed from their spec of 12Gb/s. I passed through the LSI3008 controller to a VM running on my Proxmox VE server and the Toshiba hard drives and this cable, which is connecting them to the LSI HBA controller, has been working as expected and there haven't been any issues with them at all.I don't know why the sole reviewer of this cable prior to me gave it a 1 star review as there wasn't any explanation given for it. I can only assume that perhaps they were not fully understanding what this cable is for since it's not something an average PC user would ever need.For me, it was exactly what I was looking for in a Mini-SAS HD cable of this type. There are so many cables of this type on Amazon where if you look at the spec, it says that the cable is limited to speeds of 6Gb/s. So it was nice to finally come across this one, which clearly stated that it was able to operate at speeds of 12Gb/s, which is why you use a SAS hard drive over a SATA one.

These cables work perfectly with my LSI 9300-16i controller to hook up my SAS drives. Quality seems comparable to other SFF-8643 Internal Mini SAS HD to (4) 29pin SFF-8482 cables I have ordered. Price is good.
