This is very similar to a sharp scientific calculator I had years ago (approx 1982).What I do not like about it. Very shiny.OK now that is out of the way:It has the same familiar lay out that I loved on my old sharp calculator that got me throughAlgebra, Physics, Chemistry and the exams very nicely. My tutor says it is more than adequate forTrig and calc. Very intuitive and almost no learning curve to use it. Even though it is shiny (getting used to that),the keys are very readable. The function keys are easy to find. The number display is very very clear. Some folks like that it has the DEC, HEX, OCT, BIN keys. If you never use those, they definitelydo not get in the way. (note photo, lower right keys). The instruction manual is nothingto brag about but you don't really need one. It is very intuitive. If I can figure it out, anyone can.The cover slides on and off smoothly and totally protects the front. Very user friendly. The design is classic rather that faddish. It comes with a green "trim" or a white trim, soyou'll want to pay attention to which one you are ordering. You will find them displayed and sold separatelyon Amazon. I have learned that faster shipping means it gets handled a lot better by theUSPS or UPS. It costs more but is worth it! It is battery operated (not solar). The batterylasts "forever" and the calculator has automatic shut off. There is a separate little batterycompartment at the bottom attached by two tiny philips screws if you every need to replacethe battery. It takes LR1130 x 2 batteries. BUT you are never likely to ever replacethose batteries. My other similar Sharp model (which this has replaced) was very reliableand I am sure this one will be too. Hope this review was helpful.
