My new bike came with generic linear pull brakes that were always out of adjustment. I suspected the spring tension on those brakes was wonky and I was right. The Shimano De'ore linear rear rim brakes are solid and steady. And they are all metal. The generic brakes had a plastic bushing in the spring/frame mounts...the Shimano brakes were all metal with a substantial spring for tension. The brakes adjusted easily, and don't rub on the wheel now. My bike had Jag wire cables and housings, so I left those on. The brakes pull evenly and snap back quickly. These are better brakes. Thanks Shimano!I don't use my brakes very much, but I like them to work when I need them. I also replaced the front with the same brakes. There is a great difference.

I just got these today and opened the box just to find out they were used and BR-T4000 brakes in a BR-T610 box. Not at all happy. I bought these specifically from the Shimano Store to get the right thing.Returning and will try one more time before I go somewhere else.Update: I received a new set of rear brakes from the store and they are the right ones. These Shimano brakes use a different mounting post with a lower shoulder than other V brakes. This means the pin that goes in the adjustment holes, on the bike frame, just barely reaches the hole. I have not been able to find these lower mounting bolts so I hve not been able to use these brakes yet. Still searching.

I put bafang motor on my bike therefore I needed normal brakes. These right and left identical, you can buy the ones is cheaper and change pads (with beds) for 20 secs. Just follow the arrow direction. I installed it with new sora Shimano levers which came as a set with new cables and everything. Also changed stock pads to Kool pads for electric bike (gray). Bought on eBay without beds 25 for 4 pads. They perfectly fired stock Shimano beds. Now it feels like I have hydraulic brakes I had on my Cannondale quick 3. I stopping just by little pressure on my fingers (I'm using one finger). It's so good and so pleasure to stop. I spent time to put pads perfectly to the rim, in bike shop they won't do it. Be careful it's really strong. I have 700c rims, 35 tires on Cannondale quick 6

Put them on my Ebike and they stop on a dime even in the pouring rain. Great brakes and solid price with easy set up.

I used this on my motor bicycle beach cruiser as an upgrade. Big improvement. Better than cheap disc brakes. I don't have mounts for the caliper or rotor so I decided to upgrade the stock system. Keep the rim clean, keep oils off the pads and they're fantastic.

Ever since disc brakes hit the market Shimano has slowly quit making v brakes for some of its best mtn bike groups. Xtr, deore xt, & slx groups are Shimanos top 3 component groups and you can find used v brakes. However you can still find deore, 4th tier componentry group, is still a good choice.

Replaced some Walmart-Special Tektro calipers on my Raleigh Detour 4.0 - front and back. Rear shown in the pictures. Difference is night and day with stopping power, even wet. They grab like crazy - enough to throw you over the handle bars at full stop. They’re also virtually silent and the brake lever is firm because the pads are backed with metal, not rubber. I would recommend replacing cables when you replace calipers, but it’s not necessary unless they’re trashed. If you’re having trouble braking, check the springs on your calipers. If they’re worn, loosen the mounting screw and adjust your caliper a notch closer to the wheel (on the body of the bike, or fork if in the front). If that doesn’t help and the set screws are toast, these are the calipers you want. The spring coil housing is metal (not plastic) and the set screw is loaded into the metal of the caliper, not directly on the spring. It’s a reliable design and I would imagine these calipers will outlast the bike itself.
