When I saw that Sierra changed the end on from stainless steel to plastic I was wondering how that could possibly hold up. And after the first time we used it, not one, but BOTH broke. The end pieces disintegrated. The plastic tabs that hold the strut in place are so flimsy the bent and broke under the weight of lowering and lifting the boat top. Poor design!
