Ideal for a wide range of photo and video applications including landscapes, portraits, street photography, architecture, and events, the 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary Lens from Sigma is a small, light, and bright standard zoom for crop-sensor mirrorless cameras. Offered here with a Sony E-mount, this lens provides a versatile full-frame equivalent zoom range of 27-75 and a wide constant aperture of f/2.8 throughout the entire zoom range. The lens design includes three high-precision glass-molded aspherical elements coupled with a special low dispersion element. Together they minimize the total number of elements for superb optical quality without excessive weight. Autofocus is exceptionally fast and quiet thanks to the lens's stepping motor, which can be particularly useful when shooting video or fast-moving subjects such as children and animals.

The SIGMA 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN | Contemporary is remarkably compact, matching the portability of APS-C mirrorless camera bodies. This makes it a perfect workhorse lens that is ideal for general day-to-day use. The lens is currently the smallest and lightest in its class*1, boasting a maximum diameter of φ65.4mm, a length of 74.5mm and weight of 290g*2, yet still maintains a constant aperture of F2.8.
Supports various shooting situations
The SIGMA 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN | Contemporary has fast and near-silent AF that makes it perfectly suited to a range of photographic applications, including shooting in quiet environments, recording videos and capturing fast-moving subjects. This has been achieved by using a stepping motor as the AF actuator. Since it is small and lightweight, it can be used flexibly in situations such as handheld shooting, which requires high mobility, gimbal shooting, one-man operation video shooting and vlogging.
About the minimum focusing distance
With an emphasis on making the lens as versatile as possible in a wide variety of shooting conditions, SIGMA designed the lens with a minimum focusing distance of 12.1cm and maximum magnification of 1:2.8*, making it also ideal for close-ups.

Great beginner lens. Similar to the 18-50 canon kit lens i used on a t6 and after switching to a mirrorless sony camera, this lens felt very familiar.Quality is fantastic!

I'm still learning photography and videography. I use it with ZV-E10.Love the lens hood that it came with. Hardy construction and works as a bumper for the lens (like when setting it down).I'm learning a lot with this lens and although I've discovered there are much better lenses, those are too high for a beginner. I'd rather start out with a budget lens as versatile as the Sigma 18-50mm.I love that the lens performs well in low-light because I like night photography a lot. f/2.8 aperture is the lowest but allows you to go higher thanks to be being variable aperture. This let me experiment with a lot more scenery and gave me good opportunity for learning.The housing is solid and rigid. I can hold my ZV E10 by the Sigma lens itself because I'm confident in the attachment point on the lens and camera. This is useful when you need better grip of the camera, as the lens gives good purchase.I won't share any pictures I've taken because I'm not at that level yet. My review is aimed toward other beginners who need a solid first or second lens to learn with. This is worth the purchase and from what I can see, it still costs about the same. It really has held it's value!
