Fire Sand From Fire Pit Essentials
Fire-proof silica sand is an excellent base layer for a fire pit. Silica sand can be used as cost-effective filler to cover the bottom areas of a fire pit. Fire glass or lava rock can be added on top of the sand for effect.

Fire Pit Use
Silica sand is often used in outdoor fire pits, fire bowls and fire tables. It can be used exclusively or as a cost-effective base layer underneath fire glass.
Fireplace Use
Replace the faux logs in your indoor or outdoor gas fireplace with heat-proof silica sand for a clean, attractive ambience. Or, simply fill the area around and under your existing logs with the sand.
Decorative Use
Silica sand can be used in landscaping, around potted plants or succulents, or as interior décor. Fill vases, make centerpieces or use sand in crafting.

How much silica sand will you need? To calculate the amount of heat-proof sand needed to fill a square or rectangular fire pit, use the following equation:
Width X Length X Depth, divided by 19 = pounds of silica sand needed. We recommend a minimum 2” of material depth for most installations. For example, a 20" X 25" fire pit at the recommended 2” of sand depth: 20 X 25 X 2, divided by 19 = 52 lbs.

Most fire pit glass comes in reflective and non-reflective finishes and two basic sizes: ¼” and ½”. Larger sizes of fire glass crystals create a three-dimensional look ideal for bigger fire pits and produce larger flames; smaller sizes lie flatter and produce a smaller and more uniform flame.

Lava & Fire Rock
Our fire rock is heat proof and ideal for use in indoor and outdoor gas fire pits and fireplaces. Lava rock comes in red or black colors, can be shaped like rounded pebbles or angular stones, and is available in a variety of sizes.
Fire Burners
These rectangular H burners are ideal for outdoor and indoor gas fire pits, fire tables or other fire features that have a roughly rectangular or square shape. Stainless steel construction and carefully drilled burner ports ensure ease of gas flow and an attractive flame for your fire pit.

I used this sand to diffuse the natural gas in my fire place. The utility company tech told me not to use it this way. Period. I need a whole insert for the fireplace. So everything is installed, sand and glass. It looks pretty and that is good enough.

Not as coarse/big as the picture states. Very dirty as well. If using for plants/cacti/succulents, you will need to wash many times.
