Know More About Ceramic Fiber Board

What is ceramic Fiber Board?

Ceramic Fiber Board is made from refractory fibers and binders which have low organic content, the mixture is vacuum processed into boards that impart good mechanical strength even after heating. Boards are manufactured in various densities and temperature grades to suit application requirements.

Ceramic Fiber Boards are a rigid and self-supporting insulating product of the ceramic fiber family that is intended for use in applications that require

  • Higher insulating properties
  • Increased strength and rigidity to resist gas erosive forces
  • Fire resistance and direct heat resistance up to 2300°F
  • High resistance to thermal shock (ability of a solid to withstand sudden changes in temperature either during heating or cooling)

The SIMOND STORE Ceramic Fiber Board Insulation is really easy to use, and it works great. It's half an inch thick, and lightweight, but it's also strong, durable, and can withstand very high temperatures. It's easy to cut, as well as drill through too. Overall, I think it's very well made, well designed, and high quality - worth the price. I'd recommend!PRODUCT: "SIMOND STORE Ceramic Fiber Board Insulation - 2300F Rated - 1/2" x 23.6" x 35.4" - Pack of 1 - Ceramic Fiber Thermal Insulation Board for Stoves, Ovens, Forges, Kilns, Furnaces, Fireplaces, Boilers"

This is good heat resistant board. If you cut it to shape, wear a filter to not breath floaty bits. It is light weight, and effective. I got this to put under my melting furnaces when in use for better protection in case of spills, but that is not a good use case for this. I fear that it would break or get crushed either by the furnace or me moving it in and out as I set up for a melt/pour. So I got the wrong thing, but that is not a ding on the quality of the board. But if you want this for a similar reason, then you may want to stick with fire bricks.I will still use this for smaller hand melt projects and eventually I want to build a proper kiln so this will be a head start for that project.

Seems pretty lightweight and durable. We've got it installed and it is doing what we expect in terms of holding the heat in.Why is the surface turn black or darkened? First time we heat it up on the one side. Maybe that's because something else inside the furnace? So far so good. I'll post an update

We needed 1.5 inches of height to raise a pellet stove to match an existing wall chimney fixture. Glues two thickness together and cut to fit, with a circular saw,the stove base profile. It took the weight of the stove very well.
