Disappointingly soft file that dulls quickly. Does not compare to the Simonds that were made in USA and similar in quality to the new Nicholson files.

Made in China? Tang has sharp edges

File appears much better than the box store files. It is the same size as the Pferd 12" file. I was wanting a 14" file but it is just over 14" long including the tang. It is made in China. Pferd is 12" to the tang. Guess which one I prefer.

I had several dozen Simonds files (Made in the (USA) of really weird shapes that were handed down from a millwright that worked in sawmills in the Pacific NW for all his adult life that he used to sharpen saw blades. The several flat bastards I have were the best files I ever owned; could not dull them! At any rate, I needed some more flats and ordered…. So disappointed! Tang says Simonds - Made in Honduras. They are pretty much junk. Save your bucks and track down good files, which I now have to do.
