All decks that stand more than 18" off of the ground should have these installed. When my decks were first built 26 years ago these Tension Kits were not available, many deck accidents could have been avoided by installing these units. I have now installed on two of my three decks and the added stability from lateral sheer and movement is amazing. Will be purchasing one more kit for the last deck shortly.

Needed the ties to bring my new built deck up to code. I live in Michigan so it makes perfect sense to have 20 hurricane grade ties. I’m sure they’ll work great, I’ll just probably never know

Easy install (even though I don't agree for the need when combined with structural screws + Lag bolts) and don't look nearly as bad as some of the others MN building code calls for.

Does it work well how would I know. It is a safety device and it should do what it is advertised to do. What I know is that it is a robust device and should work. It is fairly easy to install if you avoid knots in the wood. The directions are straight forward. I got it for peace of mind and am satisfied with my purchase.

Worked great. Though unnecessary in my opinion. IRC Codes are a little overboard.
