It's a very good speaker. I stuck it into the stock enclosure of my ford explorer, I drilled with a hole saw and cut with a hot knife to enlarge the opening and then packed some sound insulating materials in there, and used some giant structural screws to fasten it down tight. Then I put the enclosure in the space for it in the back, ran the wires, and put more structural screws through the vehicle and enclosure. I packed more sound insulation into any hollow space within a few feet of the speaker, and then injected it with a high density expanding polyurethane foam. I welded a shield for it since my tools are always smacking around back there and the stock cover didnt fit since the speaker was larger than the stock one. I slammed some more structural screws in the shield, and then went around the rest of the car and tidied up any rattling plastic crap by either ripping it off or sending a screw through it. Sounds like a top quality sound system. I can play music at the highest volume setting and it sounds so clean and crisp and absolutley booming.It might not be the prettiest installation(its literally a work truck), but that wasn't the goal. The performance is first and foremost and I think i nailed that.

I got the shallow sub because I have a singlecab truck. I needed a SMALL box. For the price range, these things are the CHUCK NORRIS of subwoofers. Skar earned a loyal customer that day

I used a pair of these 10’s for a install in a 3rd generation Tacoma (2021 TRD sport) behind the rear seat. The box was a pretty tight fit and had 5.5 inches of depth available for the baskets. The also do extremely well in a small sealed enclosure. I added about 10-12oz of poly fill (so much poly fill.. like a pillow sized clump) to improve the Q of the enclosure. Since these are dual 4 ohm voice coil subs I was able to put a 1OhM load to the amplifier maximizing bang for the buck w/ the amp. Since they have dual VCs they can handle quiet a bit of power compared to the very popular pioneers. I am lowering with a soundstrem 4500.d which is probably 2000ish watts at 1OhM so gains are turned down. It hits about 110-112 decibels playing bass heavy music. Overall I was able to do the subs, box,LOC, 80hz filters for stock speakers, amp and wiring for ~about 500 dollars. Speaker depth seems to be what could be considered a shallow mount but the frame is large. I had to use a rotary tool and sand the opening to my box (Attrend box for a Ram 1500) until the sub could fit properly. Has good bass especially for the price and considering I'm only running one 10" under the rear seats. Paired it with a Power Akoustik RZR 2500 sending 500 watts to the sub. Amazon has the same amp as the 2300. My bass was already decent since I'm running 4 Pioneer 6x9s in the doors but this brought out deeper tones and more of the bass that you can feel.

UPDATE*** 4 months later these subs are still hitting harder than ever almost better then when I first reviewed them. Then lows you can geel now, they are finally worked in. Over all happy. From the time I’m in my truck to the time Im out of it these are pounding.I had blown my old school audio bahns subs. I decided to go new for sound and before these I got two JL audio subs not impressed whatsoever things started over heating. I returned them and purchased these skar audios as they were a DVC unlike the SVC jls.

Using a nice class A/B Rockford Fosgate amp with this driver. Decent excursion and sounds great - a quality woofer for the price!
