So far the light it’s working great, I find it a bit hot, but I guess it’s normal time will tell, also comes with the bag and that’s really convenient, I’ve tried using it with a ulanzi v mount battery but the light overpowered the battery, overall built quality it’s great and a great light for the money

SmallRig makes innovative, quality products and this new model RC 220D Pro is no exception. In addition to being a good light and easy to use, the AC adapter mounts on the battery V-mount as a contiguous part of the light housing, and is not some separate, heavy block with a tangle of wires that has to be hung on your light stand, as is common with so many other continuous source lights. And obviously it can also use a V-mount battery instead of the AC adapter making it easily portable. I recently replaced all four of my continuous source lights with these, and could not be more pleased with them.

SmallRig surprised me with this light. It is really good and well thought out. One of the best things about is is the build in v-mount battery plate. I love not needing any kind of adapters to install to take advantage of portable power. Portable power is what makes or breaks a light for me now. So many lights have the same features, FX and size that they all seem the same to me. But that built in V-mount pushes this to the top spot.

Let me start by saying I have a number of video lights in this size and range from a variety of manufacturers. This one however is one of my favorites, for overall build quality and functionality. If you're new to studio lights and are getting dizzy trying to sort out all the features on different lamps, I would suggest just giving this a try. It's made of metal, has a Bowens compatible mount, has a VMount for optional portability and is powerful enough to illuminate an average sized room. Full color temp settings are of course incorporated and the entire package comes with a nice carrying case for portability and convenient storage. It's a simple solution to the age old problem of getting light on your subject and it does an excellent job at that! I have numerous items by Small Rig and they are all top quality. This light is no different. I love the light and use it multiple times every week. It hasn't disappointed.

This is like the big brother to my SmallRig RC100B mobile lightThe 220D comes in a very nice padded travel caseIt works of course with my SmallRig VB99 V Mount Battery or with the existing AC adapterYou can also get an adapter to use NPF batteries but the light intensity is lowered to 60% so best to get a large capacity V mount batteryOne limitation - you cannot change the color temperature - it is fixed at 5600KEven my small RC100B has temperature control so I don't know why this was design this wayBut it is listed in the description so its not inaccurate, I guess this is how they can get max light output from the chipThere are effects like all the other lamps I have but since this is locked in at 5600K, the fireworks or campfire effect doesn't look too good since you can't make it warmThe fan is audible but not loud - depending on where you shooting - you can turn off the fan but it downgrades the light outputDMX is another useful feature if you want to do permanent installation like a studio or stageSmallRig is a young company compared to many other established ones but they are really making waves in the audio and video equipment area. So far all the SmallRig products I have are reliable and well designed
