Installing the lock physically was very easy. It requires an app to set it up. After several failures with nondescript error messages, I tried another device and it worked on that one. With this, it took many times longer to configure it that it did to install it. Fortunately, once the app is up and running, installing a 2nd lock goes very quickly. Some minor cutting to accomodate the new plates was needed. This was done using a utility knife. The plastic box-like object they provide wasn't useful though. The deadbolt recess was oval in shape. It would have been a lot of work to have to chisel all that out just to get the rectangular plastic box in there. That was left out.The main drawback for me is the auto-lock. It is based solely on timing and doesn't care if the door is open or closed. Another lock I have is smarter. It has a hall-effect sensor and locks when the door is closed. Much nicer. I would much prefer this type of locking, but was unable to find a unit that met my requirements. I chose this one as something of a tradeoff. The other problem is aesthetics. What works on the outside, aesthetically, doesn't work so well inside. The inside is a large dark brick like object whose color doesn't match the typical interior decor. It would be better if they had a few covers of different colors to use for the indoor part. I covered the battery cover to lighten the color. The outside unit, though, looks great. One of the reasons I bought it. But there are two very different sides to a door. I am not done yet. I will try to find a way to make it look nicer on the inside. The app is for the most part well written (except for the lack of proper error messages), but the copy function from lock to lock isn't very useful. It doesn't bring your attention to its limitation which is that it only copies the card info. Nor does it say what it did. It just says copied 2 records. Not very informative. It does not copy the fingerprints. Getting the fingerprints is a lot more work. Being able to copy those would be a bigger benefit than the cards which are easy to add.Overall, though, the unit is quite acceptable. The main thing likely to sink it is if the auto-lock turns out to be a nuisance. Auto-lock is a must have for me. A good auto-lock with sensor would be preferred. Time will tell.

I am delivering on my promise to provide feedback during Canadian winter.I reduced my rating from 4 to 1 because:- It is -6 degrees celsius and the lock completely gave up.- Fingerprint Does NOT open or lock- Code Does NOT open or lock- Remote by app Does NOT open or lock- Last thing I wanted to do is to give my tenant the physical key, which I had to do today after they were locked out a few times!I am getting rid of this lock, it is nothing but waste of money and embarrassment!I am leaving My Previous review so you don't think I am having malicious intentions. My attitude is always positive at first:Good lock for the price. I just have 2 suggestions for the manufacturer:1- The touch screen is not responding to the touch sometimes. I just installed it today which is a warm day in May around 23 degrees C. Hopefully it'll function in the Canadian winter.2- The default page of the app doesn't show if the lock is "Locked" or " Unlocked". You should go to the records to show if it is locked or unlocked. It would help if it shows it instantly on the default page

Love everything about it except we didn't get any low battery notification except when the device started to malfunction when they ran low. Could have been a pickle if we got locked out lol. Replaced batteries and back to being great again. Hopefully in an app update the battery sensor will be improved upon and a push notification will be sent out when they need replacing. Other than that everything is great especially for the cost! The fingerprint sensor is especially accurate which is usually a sticky issue with these types of products. Highly recommend with the one caveat

Great lock. Easy to install. Only issue I've had is that the finger print reader works intermittently, and it's silly that I need to buy an additional device to get it to work with Amazom Alexa. Key fob and pass codes work flawlessly. Would definitely recommend this lock.

I have this lock installed in my front entrance security door. My wife and I use the fingerprint feature for entry. Also with a "bluetooth bridge" ($40) which connects the lock to our wifi, I can use Google assistance for remote functions such as checking to see if the door is locked and if not, then google can remotely lock it for meWe also love the temporary passcode feature for those unexpected visits when we are not home and the ability to assign several passcodes is invaluable when you have contractors or cleaners going in and out because apart from the convenience, you also get a log of who enters and exits your home and when. All and all a great smart lock, BIG on features at a very reasonable cost. The only thing I wish it had is a direct WIFI capability without the need for a "bridge" and when Simonet comes up with a WIFI model, I'll be sure to order one.Remember that for the best functionality you will also need a WIFI door sensor (about $20). This way google assistant can tell if the door is open or closed and the lock can be set to automatically lock, as soon as the door is closed so you will never have to remember to lock the door.Customer service is also great. In fact when my first lock developed an issue after 4 months, I simply contacted Simonet for support and they sent me a brand new lock under warranty.I could not ask for more and definitely recommend this smart looking smart lock.

Before buying a smart lock, I researched a lot and finally found this lock.First, we can lock and unlock however way we like to:1. Using a traditional physical key;2. Scanning fingerprint;3. Using the app;4. Punching pass key on keypad;5. Even comes with two IC card, that can be conveniently attached a keychain.Secondly, we like the autolock function. After our desired time we set on the app, it locks automatically. We can never forget to lock as it locks by itself. It is very convenient and secure.Third, the design of lock is slim and compact that suits on all doors, and we can choose a couple of different colour options to begin with. I chose a black one and we like it.Fourthly, we can set many useful settings using two different apps. We can lock and unlock. We can set pass key and many other settings. It is very user-friendly and convenient. Finally, it works well under all circumstances - hot and cold. It works perfectly even in extreme cold weather in Canada.I strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a good smart lock for your home.

We swapped out our 1st gen August lock with this SMONET lock and matching handle (B09V571VMK). The combination looks great. The quality of the hardware is mid-range at best, but wanted to try a value lock first before upgrading to a name brand like Kwikset or Yale down the road. For $120 (after coupon), the SMONET lock works as advertised and quickly setup the pin code and fingerprints for the whole family, which all work well. We've only had it for a few days, so can't speak to its longevity, but the install was relatively simple and the app is straight forward and easy to use. The most difficult part was aligning the lock plate, which required some chiseling of the door frame, but would need to be done for any new lock.In general, It just works, which is what we wanted, not an overly complex lock/app that tries to upsell the customer on accessories or subscriptions (which has regrettably become the norm these days). My favorite feature is the auto-lock settings, which can be set from 10-60 seconds after the door is unlocked. We never need to worry about an unlocked front door again as long as it's closed. We also bought the gateway (B0811J4PL8) in order to unlock the door when not home and to control the lock from Google Home & Alexa. If you decide to do the same, it needs to be linked to the "ScienerSmart" app/service for Google Home and the "TTLock" app/service for Alexa. It's a bit confusing to have different names for everything (SMONET for the hardware, "Next Lock" for the Android/IOS app, "TTLock" for Alexa and "ScienerSmart" for Google Home. Once you figure this out, then can control the lock across all your smart devices. Google Home actually works better than Alexa and can unlock the door (with a code) from my google next. Alexa linked to the lock fine, but currently can't unlock the door as it says that I need to enable locking in the App, which I've done, but still doesn't work; I'll troubleshoot this more, but no luck on the first attempt. To address some of the other critical reviews, this lock and company is likely based in Southern China and wouldn't expect to have a perfect owners manual or packaging; I don't think it was copy-edited by a native English speaker. That said, these types of locks are a dime a dozen in East Asia and trust that they're working off of proven technology that just needed adaptation for the North American Market. Some feedback for the SMONET folks.....If you want to up your game and improve review scores, I'd recommend hiring out a professional copy-edit company in Hong Kong, Singapore, USA and spend a bit more on the packaging to have thicker cardboard and replace the foam insulators with ECO/Cardboard options (take inspiration from Xioami or Anker). I'm sure these marginal improvements would allow you to better compete with the larger brands on the platform.
