These are the size you want for organizing semi-complex paper trails, especially if you have varying thicknesses of documents. The legal size allows you to put labels at the bottom of each page to identify the document stack or to place short documents, business cards, etc. below a letter-sized document on that same page. This flexibility makes these classification folders ideal for both legal and letter sized documents. The pockets are helpful for storing thicker documents or for loose or odd-sized documents, receipts, etc.The new fasteners are okay, not really a big difference from the old style, except they are slightly less sturdy, and a little easier to bend. Some have commented that this new composition mix of recycled material makes these less sturdy. The older version 502 8A 2D was more heavy duty, designed to hold more like 50 sheets (total) of paper and fit for re-use over many years. The new version is less sturdy, less fit for reuse. The new version while not flimsy, is more for light-to-moderate duty, maybe 25 sheets total of paper. Still, these are a great tool for a smaller task.To be five stars, these need to be a little thicker and sturdier, like the older version.

These folders are great for administrative hearings because they have the different sections. Instead of having separate manila folders in a redrope jacket, you have everything all in one easy to pick up file folder while still keeping your documents separated by category. There are also pockets which are great for storing disks, audiotapes, etc. They are also very sturdy so you don't have to worry about them falling apart.
