I need a softer light that spreads across the keyboard. This light glares and lights up just a single key. Useless!

Says the shade material is metal, it's plastic. The gooseneck is metal.Fairly dim, very cold white light, poor illumination at best.

The product page says "long lifespan up to 100,000 hrs". The package I received says "rated to average 8,000 hours of use". This is a problem for me because it will be used as a desktop computer keyboard light and will be on 24 hours per day. The rated 8,000 hours is less than 1 year of use. The limited life makes this unacceptable for my use.The good news is this light is bright, seems well made, and the gooseneck has just the right balance of flexibility and stiffness. I'm really disappointed because other than the LED life this would be the perfect solution for me.
