It is hard to tell when the solder melts but having cut one apart to inspect it after heating they work well.

So I've been doing a lot of electrical work around the house - it seems like every time I change an outlet/switch/fixture something is wrong and there is an excessive amount of work to do.Beyond that, I have plenty of "toys" and tools, and something is always broken. I had seen these recently somewhere, and when they popped up on Amazon I had to grab a set to try out.First off, I'm not sure that I would be comfortable using this for household electrical work. Stick to your wire/lever nuts to get the job done. I don't know enough about these things to be comfortable with them being in a wall in my house somewhere.For marine/automotive (like in the title, which is NOT the same type of power as your house), I've had a good amount of luck with these so far. I rewired the lights on my lawn tractor and these are great for dirty/outdoor locations.Highly recommended for DC applications as advertised, but I don't know if I'd suggest these for home/in wall/etc use.

Like a few other reviewers I have struggled to get a good connection on these.The box comes with 130 connectors suitable for joining wires from AWG10 to AWG26. So far I have exclusively tried the red AWG 22-18 connectors on AWG 18 wires.I strip the cables and insert them into a connector. Using the heat gun on high everything seems to melt, except for the solder and, on cooling, the connection between the wires is not secure. It does not take much to pull one of the wires out of the connector.I'll keep working with these and return here if I get more success. For now these are not my preferred connector. 2 stars

I used some of these for my trailer brake wiring and haven't had any issues.
