I wouldn't put this on your old Ford, But I would put this on your dump trailer! This solenoid reminds me of the old Ford solenoids used for the starter, but it was purchased for a dump trailer. My dump trailer stopped working and was only making that clicking noise that starters make, when either the battery is dead or solenoid is bad. So since battery was at full charge I figured it was my solenoid. To Amazon I went, typed in the number on the old solenoid and up popped this little gem. Ok, maybe not this exact one, but it led me to this one. What I mean is there are a few different model number of solenoids available. 4 pole vs 3 pole, intermittent vs continuous duty. I knew I needed a three pole, so I looked through the three pole solenoids and found this one. Continuous duty solenoid is not made to withstand the amount of power required in a vehicle’s starting system, and a starter solenoid isn’t able to tolerate the heat of running continuously. So be careful before ordering to ensure what you are getting. This solenoid is listed as intermittent with a duty cycle of 25% So for a dump trailer it works out fine since it's not in constant operation. And really if you needed to, you probably could use it on your old Ford. Thanks Trombetta!
