I bought one of these directly from the Amazon seller (Sweetwater); they are best in class so you know you will get a legit, QC inspected product. I’ve been playing guitar on and off for years and had some nice ones. I tried one of these because of the good reviews all over the internet and it’s got Fender DNA.The guitar arrived in flawless condition. I never upgraded a guitar so decided I was going to upgrade this and see what performance I could squeeze out of it.I changed all the electronics.Switch: the standard Fender 5 way switch barely fit but it did. The body on these is slightly thinner than regular Stratocasters and they use a lower profile switch in these. The stock one is probably good enough, it didn’t feel cheap when you switched pickups.Pots: installed bigger pots 250k and those required the bigger Fender knobs.Pickups: installed Fender Fat 50s in the Neck/Middle and a Seymour Duncan JB at the bridge. Tuners, nut, and bridge are all pretty good so no need to change them. Neck: some scratchy frets but they shined up nice. Now it plays silky smooth, as good as American Strats I’ve owned. In summary, I have paid about $600 total for all the parts + guitar and it sounds awesome and plays really nice. The stock single coils sounded really cool, but all the stock pickups are low cost. However, they actually sound decent despite that. You won’t sound like Slash Jr with this humbucker, but it is good enough. It is clear sounding but not much low end punch. In summary, this is a nice guitar for the price. You may have to set it up a little out of the box. I recommend this for new or young players because they need to have a decent instrument to enjoy playing. My first guitar was a starter Strat a long time ago and I didn’t enjoy playing it because it was hard to play and felt cheap. Fender has come a long way with Squire. You get more than what you pay for with this guitar.

I'm a long time guitarist , play mostly metal , hard rock and punk. This guitar is good for all of it and any other genre too with the HSS pup configuration. I bought it because it has a hard tail bridge , no BS trem system , also the color combo with the body and fretboard and because I bought the Sonic Series Mustang when they first came out and was equally blown away . The guitar required a very little in the way of a setup . A few saddles had to be slightly lowered and the intonation on the low E and to be adjusted . The neck is spectacular and the fretwork also . No sharp frets , I did have to clean the frets and co diction fretboard when I set it up . The neck is a C shape and nice and meaty , not thin like the Bullet Series necks . It's the same in the Mustang model too. The body is a little thinner than a Fender but that okay with me , it's actually more comfortable to play standing or sitting that way . This will be my number 1 from here out and I own 20 guitars . That's how good this one is. Now the fretboard might not be too quality wood , but I'm not picky , for 2 hundo.
