I can pretty much do any project when it comes to "stick building." Walls, roofs, flooring, no problem. Stairs, though? Nope. It's like a dark art to me. Alchemy, even.So I'm hoping this tool will make it easier for me when my next project (soon, this Spring) comes up. I admit to being a little overwhelmed opening the box, so clearly some form of education (PhD level?) is required!Having said this, there's nothing about this product that I don't like. It is very nicely machined out of high quality materials. And comes with a very nice carry case. I think it's worth every bit of the $76 (or so) that one has to pay for it. So yes, an excellent value for the money.Once I get the hang of it I'm sure it will be very easy to use. Not there yet, though. But I really do look forward to learning an putting it into use.Love it! Not cheap (Vine items aren't free, btw), but really, really nice nonetheless.5 (very enthusiastic) stars.

My young teen son loves to work with tools! We like to do woodworking and art and anything else that we can create with our hands! And he was thrilled to see this gift I got him!He's a very particular child about quality. But he was impressed with the high quality of this product. He noted the little details such as using two screws at the various joints to make sure that you get a straight line, and he enjoyed figuring out how it worked as he went up our stairwell measuring and adjusting the tool to get ideas of length and width of the stairs. He expressed that this is really going to help us with our home renovation DIY projects that we've been working on.He especially loved the color! That may be biased, given that green is his favorite color. :-)It also comes in a really nice carry case, which helps to ensure that the parts are lost.We're both pretty excited about this tool! I most excited to be able to easily make sure that I'm getting my angles correct!Thank you for the fabulous product! :-)

This is such a great tool and so well made and thought out. Unlike the ones the big box stores sell this is a real tool and comes with everything you need. The ones at the big box stores only come with the ends and you have to provide the center part. The case is a zipper soft sided bag with Velcro straps on the inside to hold everything in place. There is also a pouch to hold the hardware. The markings are clear and easy to see. The fit when put together is perfect without any slop. This set also includes a tread depth jig making for easy repeated cuts. The thumb screws are easy to handle even in colder weather. They really tried to think of everything when making this and it shows. So if you are going to or have ever built set of stairs or do so often for a living this is the must have set. Having it will save you time and money as anyone who ever has done stairs knows that if you mess up a single tread that that cost would have paid for this tool.

I got this to install luxury vinyl plank flooring on my mom's stairs. I've been doing flooring for quite a few years, and I've never bought this tool. Well, lesson learned. I should have gotten it earlier. It makes measuring up and cutting the stair treads on poorly built "builder grade" staircases much easier.The build quality is great, the knobs that hold the angle are easy to tighten and loosen, it even comes with a carrying bag to keep it all together. I've seen these sell for 3x as much as retails stores, so I'm pretty happy with the purchase.

Highest quality machining and hardware I've seen with good storage as well.This is a simple but time saving tool.for anyone who onstalls stair treads. Rough framing, finish or high quality solid oak stairtreads can be cut to precise fit and finish with confidence and ease.The machining and annodized finish are top notch and the hardware included all comes in a VERY handy storage pouch that has an included bag that is permanently stitched into the carry case. While assembly each time is going to be tedious to install the 2 necessary bolts and hand nutsat EVERY joint of the tool, this also.allows the tool to be stored quite compactly in the nice (padded) fabric case. In this particular case, you DEFINITELY get a quality tool for the price they were asking. I THINK it was around $75.00 when I placed the order. This is a great value for such good functionality! Theres no cheap plastic parts here and the case is going to hold up well also. Theres even a couple magnetic "stair button" accessories so you can accurately mark the depth of the stair treadnose. The angle marks at each end offer a precise measurement to transfer to your chop saw and the fittings hold tight as they should so you can transcribe as you work. The only other way I know to make such an accurate template of each tread is using the countertop install guys method of using 1/8" plywood strips cut at 1" widescore and snap to fit a box for each and every tread and using a hot glue gun to secure each corner. This tool will definitely save you time and materials over the plywood strip method.
