Installed and worked okay for a few months. Suddenly lost reverse lights, then threw codes for transmission circuit voltage. Wish I could get my money back. Ticked!

Fairly easy replacement on my 1994 Lincoln Mark VIII. Two bolts and a cable plug, took about a half hour to swap out. I was having issues with the transmission shifting down two gears whenever I was traveling around 2000-2500 RPM, it was usually around 75 MPH unless I had the overdrive off. Hope others with this transmission issue see this and get resolution too, apparently the seals are poor on the original and it causes malfunctions.

Must have been a return item cause all the parts were loose inside the box where they are normally bagged and the connector had grease inside where it had been plugged in previously however, I installed it and is working just fine. Got rid of the trouble code for vehicle speed to high in park.

rolled the dice with sn95 1996 mustang gt. transmission was stuck in 2nd gear and wouldn't shift. reverce and drive neutral all worked but when in drive it would be stuck in 2nd and not go into 3rd gear. after replacing this speed sensor transmission now shifts with no problems.

Fits perfectly. Be sure to put vehicle in neutral not park when installing, and have the mark lined up before you plug it in and or bolt it on.This came with extra plug, for some other car I suppose, and metal rings I didn't need either for the 1993 Lincoln Mark viii.I do wonder if something is wrong because the check engine light has been on since I installed it, but perhaps this is related to the new plug wires installed today also. This unit is supposed to be sealed better than stock, but out of mistrust, I will periodically apply silicon lube as liberally as possible to prevent water from ever getting inside this little nightmare and shifting me down a gear while going 75. That was no fun.A 5 degree ratcheting box wrench 8mm with no angling neck , and a flathead screwdriver, are the only tools I needed once the car was up. Do yourself a favor and spray brake cleaner around in there before you get covered in grease doing this job. It's hard to get to because the exhaust is in the way on my car. Without that ratcheting wrench I'd be very unhappy. Left side of car under driver's knees you'll find this on the mark viii.Tip on removal and install; right hand on wrench, left hand's index finger on the bolt head to keep it ratcheting. Less dropping of bolt. You can use ramps but I used a 21" jack to lift the left side of the car up (airbag system off ofcourse).

Bought a Thunderbird super cheap from a guy who swore the transmission needed rebuilt because it would randomly shift gears while driving. I rolled the dice that it was this sensor, also called a Manual Lever Position Sensor (MLPS), or transmission range sensor. Early 4R70W transmissions have MLPS parts that don't seal out moisture well and are prone to failure with these exact symptoms. This new part is the updated version of the 4R70W MLPS with characteristic red seal/gasket, and bolts right in place of the original sensor in about 5 minutes. It takes longer to jack the car up and down than to replace this sensor.Once installed, the transmission shifted like new, and all of the random shift behavior was gone. Something to keep in mind if you have a '95 and older car with 4R70W transmission that is misbehaving.
