I'm a percussionist, but I didn't have one of these, so I thought I'd try it out. Comes with a nice set of extra mallets, which I've parceled out to other instruments. This works okay, but honestly, I wasn't impressed with the sound. It's a bit harsh for me. For the same price, I recently got a set of nine steel mixing bowls, and they sound a lot better. I'd recommend a xylophone over this. Still, it's okay, and much more compact than my other instruments. It comes with a lot of accessories, though, enough for me to recommend it.

I bought one of these for a dirty Santa gift last year and was genuinely disappointed when I didn't get to bring it back home with me. I'm so happy I got this one! I love the vibrant red color! So beautiful! The sound of the notes are all distinct and very pretty. They are not harsh and evoke calmness. It comes with everything pictured and each item is of quality. My toddler loves to use the sticks to play, and though she's obviously an amateur, it sounds wonderful. To use as a rain drum, just sit it outside somewhere that rian will collect and pour... A roof ledge, under a tree or even under a grill or table edge would work. You just need somewhere that there will be a collection of water running off. It's that simple. Using it as a rain drum will really elevate a rain storm! But on sunny days, grab those sticks and make your own beautiful music! This will easily add some fun to your backyard gathering.

This Steel Tongue Drum is such a lovely instrument! The sound it makes is beautiful, soothing, and perfect for meditation or just relaxing outdoors. The 6-inch size is compact but still produces clear, melodic tones. It’s easy to play, even for beginners, and comes with a soft bag, music book, and mallets, which is a nice bonus. The red color looks vibrant, and the craftsmanship is solid. Whether for personal relaxation or as a gift, this is a great little drum with a calming, pleasant sound!

I have another from a different brand, and it sounds nicer. The tone of the other is deeper and more melodic. This one sounds a little...shallow and tinny. Not something you'd want to hear for long.

This rain drum has some beautiful tones and it is one of the larger ones with lots of tones. It's well made and fun to play. And it comes with a song book with the numbers indicated to make it easy to play popular and unfamiliar songs. That's what causes me to want to leave a three star rating and it's because there are duplicate numbers and missing tones. For example, consider singing Happy birthday to you. The tone for the word "you" is not there. It's the equivalent of someone missing the note and it's not pleasant. Another thing I wasn't fond of is that in the songbook, some songs want number 4 to be the next note and there is no number our. There are two 1's, two 6's, one 2, etc., but no number 4. So, there's that. But the sound is beautiful and peaceful, so I'm still overall happy with it.
