This was the perfect solution for our kitchen sink. It normally took over a minute for the hot water to start getting warm (and used 2 1/4 gallons of water doing it).I smile every time I turn on the hot water now. It literately takes 1 second to come out hot. Here's a few things to help you out that I didn't know at first:1) The 2 water nipples on top are 1/2" MIP, not 3/4", like standard water heaters have, and me and the guy at Home Depot thought. We went through many variations of fittings before we were satisfied, only for me to find out when I got home only one would work. To be fair he was super helpful, it was my fault for not measuring the connections in the first place. That being said, a standard 1/2" braided faucet hose fits these. I did use a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter for the hose going back to my faucet, because that's what it was.2) If you can fit the 4 gallon unit under your sink, get it. I could only fit the 2.5 and it does start to get luke warm after about a minute, but I hooked up my house hot water to the intake side, and it starts getting hot a little while later. I figured that would happen given my time and flow experiment earlier, but oh well, concessions.3) I found a cheap cake sheet pan to set the unit in, just in case, and I'm glad I did. A week after install I had a small water leak (my poor plumbing skills) and my cabinet bottom was dry because the water dripped into the pan.Time will now tell how long it lasts and how often I need to look at the anode rod, but for now, I very happy with this heater!

Needed for instant hot water at kitchen sink. Works perfectly. Should have installed this years ago. Had space behind pull-out garbage can drawer. Fit like it was made for it.

Install was simple enough (I’m a contractor though, so..) The 2.5 size was good for our kitchen sink, hot water in 5 seconds now instead of 3 minutes. Once in a while there’ll be a drop from the hottest water temperature , not a big drop but when we use a lot of volume steadily without breaks the cold water coming in from the cool piping on the other side of tank mixes in quickly enough so the tank falls a bit behind in keeping the water piping hot. The waters coming from our main hot tank so when that gets to the small tank the temp quickly gets back to hot; I’ve got the little tank set below its maximum, water is hotter than I can hold my hand in.BTW, I installed a touch-control Delta faucet with it, man what an upgrade..hot water with instant on-off at the flick of a finger tip while holding dirty dishes or whatever in your other hand(s). Fab!

This hot water heater was used to provide hot water to a bathroom restoration at my church . The church members were surprised when they had hot water in the restrooms. The heater fit nicely in the cabinet. It is a nice unit with a good warranty.

Fits under my kitchen sink and delivers almost instant hot water at sink. We don’t have to wait 60 seconds for hot water from far side of house. Our plumber recommended this heater.

My propane water heater died and I needed a small heater just for washing dishes. It fits snugly under the counter and gives me just enough hot water that I need. Been using it for over a month now and I have no problems at all. Installation was a breeze, not requiring plumbing and wiring and saved me a lot of money not having to buy another expensive propane heater. I highly recommend it to anyone with similar needs.

Loved the ease of installation product is large and takes up a lot of storage space under sink but is worth the trade of of instant hot water, price cheaper on Amazon than home depot.

This unit works well I have a regular hot water tank in the basement and I put this unit inline on the 2nd floor bathroom so it's get filled with the hot water coming from the basement as it is hooked up on the hot water line only. This way the 2nd floor bathroom has instant hot water.

I did a lot of research before buying this water heater. I wanted it for under our kitchen sink. I read the 1 star reviews, factoring out the idiots, then compared to the 5 star reviews which outweighed them. I had this installed by a plumber since our kitchen was being remodeled. It was bigger and heavier than expected but I wanted good supply of instant hot water. The weight was a plus for me since I equate that to quality materials inside. I thought the design was very nice. It's good looking product. it has worked flawlessly. The thermostat control on top is very smooth and adjustable to any temp. I keep ours around 120 deg. I get hot water in about 2 sec's which is mostly determined by the length of cable from the heater to the tap. I'm convinced that I will pay for this in a year or so on the 3-4 minutes of water I had to run down the sink every time I wanted hot water. I love it.Time will tell if it lasts and doesn't leak like some people complained about. Going to put a water tray underneath just in case.Be aware, for code you'll have to run the presssure relief line to the outside. Glad I had the plumber do this.

I have always wanted something like this. Being an impatient person, I always hated waiting a minute for the hot water to make it to our most used faucet...the kitchen sink. I no longer have to wait more than 2 seconds and the water is really hot the way I have it set. I purchased this one because of one reviewer's research showing this to be made in Germany and of very high quality. He was absolutely correct. I am pretty handy, but not a plumber, so the installation required several trips to Home Depot to get the required fittings. Rest assured, they carry exactly what you need, but it can be a challenge finding it yourself or enduring the "assistance" of the grouchy guy in the plumbing department. My biggest challenge was how to handle the pressure relief valve plumbing with our slab foundation. I solved the problem by putting the unit in a plastic bin I got at Walmart. The Stiebel doesn't seem to get too hot, so I think my plan will work if it is ever needed. Sometimes, getting the best doesn't really cost you much more than getting the cheapest. In this case, I think the Steibel is the best and was absolutely worth the extra $50 I paid for it.Update 5-4-2015. Still love this thing ! Almost instant hot water and no problems so far. Plan to get another when Amazon puts it back on Prime.Update 12-4-2016. Got another one June 2015 and installed it in the primary residence. It and the original still working great.Update 1-10-2018. Both units still running strong. I will never live in another house without one of these under the kitchen sink
