About this item

  • The SHC 6 gallon mini-tank 120 V

Stiebel Eltron 235089 Model SHC 6 Mini-Tank Electric Water Heater, 120 Volts, 1300 Watts, 11.3A, 6.0 Gallon, 1300W, Singe Phase, 45 Minutes Recovery Time, 150 psi/10 bar Maximum Operating Pressure

An SHC mini-tank frees up precious space while providing plenty of hot water for hand washing or kitchen applications. Why store 30 or more gallons of hot water when 6, 4, or even 2.5 gallons are sufficient? With its flat back and included bracket an SHC easily mounts right under or near the sink. Once filled with water it simply plugs into a 120 V outlet. With only an 11 amp current draw, no special wiring is required. Lightweight and compact, the SHC saves space, quickly provides hot water right where it is needed. Plumbed with cold water and used as a stand-alone supply of hot water, or plumbed with hot water from a remote tank to minimize delays, an SHC always delivers hot water when needed. By putting hot water right where it is used, pipe runs are minimized and water and energy use reduced. The smaller tank coupled with superb insulation reduces stand-by losses especially when compared with larger tank-type water heaters.

I wouldn’t have believed that this would heat water up with 120v outlet. Great for our camp sink and shower. I’m impressed with it!

Sweet, easy to install. Got nice and hot. Be sure to fill before you turn on. A little pricey but quality is worth it.

After we installed this, a slight leak materialized. But a leak is a leak. So we contacted the company and they sent a new one, with a return label for the defective one. It was efficient and easy to work with this company.

I absolutely love this water heater. I have had it for almost a year now, time flies, and it is fantastic. I own a 40' fifth wheel RV and the water heater that came with my RV died. If I set the shower spout to the lower pressure side I can take a good 5 to 6 minute hot shower. Granted, that's not a very long shower but it's enough for me. When I shower my service dog and my pet dog's, I wait about 30 minutes between showers and then I have enough hot water to shower each of them individually. I keep the water heater set at maximum and my electric bill is low as can be. It's a delightful unit. I wish they made a 12 gallon larger unit that is plug-in just like this 6 gallon water heater unit. I would buy that bad boy in a heartbeat. This is a fantastic water heater. I love that I can just plug it into the power outlet and I don't have to be bothered with wiring and breakers. I installed it above my all-in-one RV washer/dryer unit. I highly recommend this unit.

I'm using this in a camp as the main hot water source and it's working out great - 6 gallons goes a surprisingly long way with low water pressure (30lbs/in) and a low flow head. A shower (one) is possible - and it recovers quickly with warm pond water as its cold water source. One thing to watch - I couldn't use a quick disconnect fitting ("SharkBite UC532LFA 90 Degree Crimp Swivel Elbow, 1/2 Inch x 1/2 Inch FNPT") on the cold side - there's a tube inserted to distribute the incoming cold water throughout the 6 gallon take and it interferes with the nipple coming off the quick connect. The hot side was OK, but not the cold. I need to disconnect and drain it every fall and have used these before on various endpoints (faucets and shower controls). I'll just have to come up with a different way to disconnect the hot and cold lines...The documentation provided with it was among the best I've ever seen. Their web site is similarly helpful, especially when choosing one model over another.

Only down side is there is no drain. Has to be unhooked from wall and hot and cold lines to dump it out prior to winter closing.

It is an easy install but the lack of a drain valve is not optimal

Now my husband has fixed it, this is a nice product which works as it should. There was a huge problem initially with the pressure release valve. It was defective, and ended up spewing water everywhere. I wanted to contact the company to let them know, but there didn't seem to be an option for that on the Amazon feedback page.
