I really like this tool that attaches easily to your ironing board that holds your iron cord off the fabric while ironing.

I was so tired of having to keep moving my iron cord as I was ironing. It was always in the wrong place. Took a chance and ordered this cordminder and the problem is solved. With my iron cord I didn't need to use the weight; the cord just goes back down. I iron large pieces of fabric for my quilt making so I use the length of the board and it is so nice not to have to keep moving the cord.

Great product, and very useful. I found that the clip did open wide enough to fit on the end of my metal ironing board--1 1/4" with the pad on. The only flaw was in the smaller clip used for counterbalance--it does not clamp tightly at all and easily falls off. I will figure out something else to use for a counterweight. Otherwise a good addition to my sewing room.

I had imagined such a concept for keeping a cord off the ironing board. If I had designed this myself it would be just like this product. So when I stumbled upon this one I bought it. It consists of a clip-on roller with cord guide and a small weight. You clip the roller to the back of the board, thread the electrical cord through the guide, and attach the weight. SO as you move the iron back and forth on the board, the weight keeps the excess cord retracted as it glides up and down at the back of the board. There are a few tricks to making it work well. One is that you should determine the place the weight attaches based upon how much cord you need. Move the iron to the farthest point on the board from the roller and attach the weight to the cord where it exits the back of the roller-guide. That way you have enough cord to move your iron everywhere on the board. And the best way to attach the weight is to put a loop in the cord with the handles of the weight inside the loop and the free ends crossing each other in the jaws of the weight. That way it doesn't pop off. The clip is not strong enough to hold on its own. The product is well made, and does the job. And it might actually put less wear on the cord than the whip-antenna-style cord-minders. But I found that the cord is still laying across the board when you move the iron back and forth away from the roller, and I realized later that it would be better if the cord was suspended overhead instead. I used this product for a long while and it worked reliably, and I can't complain about its quality. But I found I couldn't put my spray-bottle or my can of starch on the back of the board without risking knocking them off. So the roller/weight concept just isn't as handy or smooth to use as the spring-loaded-car-antenna-style cord-minders. I eventually ordered one of those. With the antenna-style if the can of starch is behind the "antenna" at the back of the board, it is not as likely to get hit by the cord and fall off. If you don't ever put your starch on the board, then this product will likely work just fine.

Well, I put this on the board end, side, and back with the spool upright in the air; where it was in the way of the backward and forward motion of my iron, or my arm, because it sticks up several inches into the air and is easily knocked off. Upright, the cord moving over the spinning spool makes a clacking sound. The weighted clip is perfect hanging on the cord as a counterweight (like the one underneath my kitchen sink on my faucet cord. Weights perfectly). The position and sound are both annoying. So I clipped it onto my ironing board end UPSIDE DOWN. No sound, perfect counterweight, nothing sticking up to catch my arm, hand, or cord. The clip is flat on the surface of my board. The spool is underneath the board. The cord slides easily back and forth inside resting on the plastic horseshoe shaped spool section, and alongside the board in mid-air. I love it. Try it on your board exactly as you see it in the picture and it works silently, effectively, cheaply.

I was very disappointed with his cordminder!! The clamp doesn't fit well on my ironing board. The cordminder has a turning wheel that makes a lot of noise!! I had to jam a piece of cardboard next to the roller to make it work quietly.I wish I could find a cordminder like I use to have. It had a clamp that you could screw down to fasten it to your ironing board. It worked very well to hold the cordminder to the "skinny ironing board".

This solves all my ironing cord problems. I was surprised their was not more of these around...I saw one at my aunts house and used google to search for one and this was the only one. Wow....it is very efficient and handy. would definitely recommend it if you don't like fussing with the cord...it retracts and feeds smoothly although the weighted clip needed tape to keep it on the cord but that may just be because I am aggresive and fast when ironing and would shake it loose. Worth every penny though!

The cord minder did not perform as I expected. My iron has 2 cords, an electric cord and a water hose. I hoped I could keep the 2 cords separated but the clamp on the cord minder is not strong enough to remain clamped on my ironing board. It pops off at the least amount of tension on it. Disappointing. I think the product would work if it had a stronger clamp.
