  • During the exposure process of astronomical photography, you need to use the same parameters as for formal photography to shoot dark fields. You can shoot directly by using a dark field filter.

  • SV164 filters are standard 2 inches and can be used in 2-inch interfaces such as filter wheels, filter drawers, and astronomical cameras.

  • When taking astronomical photos in groups, use the darkfield filter directly without covering the lens. It can be processed in the superposition software later.

I use it for taking Dark Calibration frames. I think it makes it easier and faster then placing cover on scope.

Completely opaque filter that you can put in your filter drawer and shoot dark frames. Great idea, works well, and cheap.

I purchased this to add to my electronic filter wheel on my scope. If saves having to go out and put the cover on the front of the telescope. I can simply switch to the dark filter and take my dark frames.

This is definitely overpriced for what it is, but still much cheaper than some of the other brands.Decent build, works as advertised. I'll continue to use it.

This filter is unbelievably Dark - It's so dark no light even tries to penetrate it. It's like being in a cave if you try to look through it. Put this in my filter drawer for doing DARKS on my astro-Camera and it works great. It sure beats covering up the telescope.
