I had high hopes to use these as a replacement for a lost hemostat I used in fly fishing. I use these to remove small hooks from fish as well as to assist in knot tying. The locking area is un-polished, with very rough surfaces. The first notch engages when the tip is still open. Once at the second locking notch the tips close but it becomes really difficult to un-lock them because the mating surfaces are so poorly made and unpolished.

I use these to get apart NG extensions at work, but they are the perfect size to just have on your badge or in your pocket for when you need it! There's not gapping when you close it, and the strength is great.

As a former OR tech, I can say these hemostats are adequate. I didn’t have the issues others note, as far as, closing and the teeth lining up. I purchased these to remove the hair from my Schnauzer’s ears. They work as expected. He’s not happy about the procedure; however, it did get the job done.

I gave 3 stars because they do work for the purpose I have in mind. They are certainly not something I would use for critical or fine work. These comments are common for 2 different units.Quality is not the highest - The finish is not highly polished, there are some random pits in the finish, operation is stiff, the jaws are not even or symmetric with one of the jaws larger than the other, the jaws look like they were bent or pressed in place to make contact, the locking jaws are a bit rough and not smooth to engage / disengage. ( I must say that the quality is very consistent for both ).With that out of the way, I bought 2 pieces to add to my fishing tackle boxes. They will work just fine for tying knots, removing hooks, holding small hooks. So I have no issues in this regard.

These are very short hemostats which for us with whelping with our puppies is perfect so I super super love these they work fantastic.

I use these for fishing to get the hook out when it's deep in the mouth. They have worked great for this. I have put this pair to work and they are still in great condition. They clamp on really well and hold the hook tight. I'll definitely purchase another pair if these take a swim.
