While these might be decent files for some other work, if you are looking to do a guitar nut do not trust the size it says they are... It is WAY off. I should have known better when I saw in the description it said "manual measurements". Lots of other advice in review said to spend the extra money to get the stew mac files but the lure of saving a few bucks and easy ordering was just too strong. These will be going back becuase I'm not taking a chance on an expensive neck to screw it up. Even if I'm only doing it one time (I'm no luthier yet) it's just dumb to mess up the nut on a new neck.

They do exactly what they say they do.

I bought these, experimented on a piece of hard plastic, and got out the digital calipers. The files are all bigger than advertised and would make nut sluts far too wide for the string gauges they are intended for. For example the 0.010" file made a 0.030" slot and the 0.026" file made a 0.44" slot. Etc. And yes I know they have 2 edges of different sizes! Also they have a fairly flat edge profile instead of rounded.I returned them without letting them anywhere near a guitar.

Excellent tools at a great price! I put turn to use right away and they paid for themselves in their first use!

Files are great. They're about 1/5 the cost of StewMac's file set. They work within seconds and make roomy but precise string grooves; grooves can accommodate any string set. The color-coded handles make working easier and more obvious. Overall, good deal.

Good for the price for the rare times I need to adjust a guitar nut. They get mixed quality reviews, but my set were made well. I would not attempt a made-from scratch nut with them unless in an emergency.

Easy to control, Easy to grip. Cuts faster and more accurately than I expected. Only downside is that it’s difficult to read the cutter size, especially on the blue handle.

Quality, good. Delivery, impeccable. Please look very, very carefully. My blue and red handles were switched! I used a micrometer to measure. The red handle, .010 & .026, was switched with the blue handle, .013-.036. If I had not noticed, it would have resulted in a ruined guitar nut. Yellow handle, .017 & .046, was fine. If you order these, please double check. Make sure the printed sizes on the handle correspond to the actual width of cut on the file teeth. Look very carefully and you can tell.

I usually don't do reviews but this one is an exception, I bought a cheap guitar from China that it came with a plastic nut which is crap and have to replace it with a real bone one. I have most of the tools needed to shape the nut but didn't have the files for the strings, since I usually buy most of my stuff from Amazon I did a search and "WOW" these types of files are quite expensive 90 to 200 plus dollars for a set and I definitely didn't wanted to pay same or more of what I paid for the guitar. Most of the reviews of this set where good so I took the chance and surely I don't regret it, these files and really solid and do a quick job of cutting the nut, actually you have to be careful not to cut too much (go slow and check constantly) if you use 10 to 46 strings this one is perfect but if like me you use heavier ones then grap a cheap tourch tip file set to reshape the slots, don't know how they will do on light strings? But I assume they will work too. If you do this for a living then go ahead and get the expensive ones but if like me that will do this once in a while grab one of these ones you will enjoy them.
