It was not unexpected, but the studs are only suitable for stamped steel valve covers. You'll need to get longer studs for aluminum valve covers. A side note, not related to the quality of the T-handle bolts, tighten them down when the motor is COLD. If you do it while hot, make sure you do it again when cold. The head/gasket/valve cover will shrink, which will cause a leak.
