Our fine Bai Mu Tan White Peony was naturally grown and produced! White Peony is made of the buds and leaves that remain after the first flush silver needle tea has been harvested. While White Peony tea is darker and the aroma bolder, the pleasant sweetness clearly identifies its relationship and similarity to silver needle tea. Bai Mu Tan White Peony is still plucked by hand in the traditional craft manner in Fujian province, China. The tea is picked in a ratio of just two leaves to every bud, following the strict quality and tasting standards introduced during the Ming Dynasty. Processing of the tea is kept to a minimum, with the plucked leaves and buds dried and withered almost immediately after picking! Once steeped, the result is a fine flowery white tea with mild flavor, and gentle sweet fruit blossom finish.

I have been using this tea for several years, and it had just enough caffeine for me.In the recent bag I ordered, it now has a lot of stems, and it doesn't give me the lift I was expecting.It looks like somebody had an idea on how to double your profits by bulking up the package with stems.Too bad ! It was a lovely tea previously.

First impression: I was surprised by the physical size of the bag. The tea leaves are mostly whole and packed very loosely. This makes it a little harder to judge the amount of tea you're putting into the pot without a scale. But, I'm a little fixated on exact measurements so I used a digital scale.The flavor is complex, floral with fruity hints but there's, almost a tart taste in the background. The color is on the yellow side of orange. Each subsequent brew changes the relative strength of the various flavor notes ever so slightly. I can usually get 4 strong brews out of a teapot before it starts to really fade out.

Just finished a Gong-Fu tea ceremony with this tea. It's not as white with white hairs as it should be. Quite a few stems, mostly broken leaves. The flavor is very good, very smooth, sweet, no bitterness at all. I added a few jasmine flowers after a few steepings and the tea flavor still came through with just a subtle hint of jasmine; this was on the last 3 steeptings out of 7 steepings total. It held the delicate flavor through each steeping. The flavor I would give 4.5 stars, the actual product with stems and green/brown leaves a 3.5...rounding it to 4 stars.If you are new to white teas and want to try it this is a good starting point. Light, delicate yet flavorful.

First time trying White Tea. It has a nice light tea taste, unlike black tea which has a heavy taste.
